If he had been on the LSD-7, he would understand the word old. AE has her down as a 17 knot ship. We could cruise day and night at 14 knots with no sweat but never made it above 16, even when empty and coming back from a WestPac cruise.My nephew , now almost 30 , served on the "New Oak Hill". I tend to use 'Briton' when I mean the old Celtic types. At least on this side of the pond, 'British' invokes visions of Union Jacks and Spitfires...... [:'(]
