Problem with turn run
Hi. I've installed my TOAW III in my Vista PC and now I can't find the runnig time for every turn. In my old laptop with XP, I pass the mouse over the empty box up in the minimap and I could see the running time in the information panel, but now, I doesn't work and I can't find the place where I could get this vital information.
I need some help, please.

RE: Problem with turn run
I'm not familiar with the phrase "running time" but if you mean what round of the turn you're on I have an answer.

His is going to be the most world-wide anticipated obituary in the history of the world, that I will tell you. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
RE: Problem with turn run
Hi, Larry. Thanks for your answer and excuse me for my awful english. My problem is that in my new Windos 7 version, this area with the TOAW shield and with the turn run doesn't appear, and I only have a small box, and when I put the pointer on it, I have no information on the panel.
I can't post now an image, but lately I'll upload a screenshot.

RE: Problem with turn run
So um...........what's your screen resolution? It has to be high enough to be able to show the stars before they are actually visible. Maybe if you go to a higher resolution setting?

RE: Problem with turn run
Thanks again, Larry. I thought in this fix yesterday, but I couldnt' make it. I'll try it this afternoon at home.
RE: Problem with turn run
No way. I work with my high resolution, but I can't see the stars instead I tried some others configuration. Maybe it's a problem with Windows 7 or about my particular configuration graphics tablet, etc.

If your screen resolution is OK, then problem maybe is in particular BMP file that is actually presenting „stars“ in the missing area. Check do you have SCREWS.BMP file within GRAPHICS or ALTGRAPHICS folders of your TOAW III installation.

RE: Problem with turn run
Just in case, I'll mention the obvious: Be sure you're in XP compatability mode. If in doubt, there are other threads on this sub-forum that discuss this.
RE: Problem with turn run
Yes, I have the "screws" file in thwe two folders, and yes, I changed to a XP compatibility version after some problem with the game's sound, but the shield doesn't appear anywhere and I can control how the turn is running. [:@]

What is your actual screen resolution that you are using? From your screenshot it seems to me rather to small screen. Here is my screenshot under 1680 x 1050 resolution.

RE: Problem with turn run
Not only are you missing the Display panel (circle of stars), you are also missing the background in the Unit Panel. The Unit Panel shows what terrain the selected unit is in. Yours shows nothing. I would say reinstall the game and see what happens.
RE: Problem with turn run
Thanks, Panama, I'll try to reinstall this afternoon at home.
Vsadek, I changed the resolution to some configurations but it didn't fix it.

I hope reinstall will fix your issues. Let us know what happened after reinstall. I really wish to help you more. I am running TOAW III under 32-bit Vista without any problems.
RE: Problem with turn run
No solution again
I reinstalled twice after unistall the previous game, once with all files that unistallation leaves on the game's folder, another after quit all the things that unistallation leaves on the folder, but the problem still on it. Here's an screenshot.

You can see that the small box still there.

What other screen resolutions have you tried?
RE: Problem with turn run
This is interesting. Just for the heck of it I uninstalled the game and reinstalled. Now the screws, the logo and the stars are all gone from the display panel. It's blank except for the raised protion that all of that is supposed to appear on. [&:][:D]
RE: Problem with turn run
With Vista 64 bit, went through all my resolutions. Turned on and off XP compatibility. Uninstalled, installed. No logo, no stars, no screws. So, then I took a hard drive that has XP 32 bit on it, put it in the same computer and booted in XP. After installation I had the logo, stars, etc. It seems to be OS specific.
Personally I've never used the circle of stars. I always use the combat planner. So I couldn't tell you if that circle, logo, screws combo was ever there with Vista. I just didn't pay attention to that part of the screen. Could have been a nude there and I probably wouldn't have noticed. [:D]
So, erwinboa, I think if you want to see the star circle you're going to have to use XP.
Forgot to mention. If I put the cursor over that area, even though nothing is there, the mouse over shows info in the bottom of the screen showing planned combats/turn used. So it appears to be a graphics glitch and not a total fail.

The Windows 7 only allows me to change to other two resolutions, but any of this makes the information about the turn run appears.
