Is it infantry or is it a tank ?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Is it infantry or is it a tank ?

Post by Soma »

Hi !

I've tried the Hospital Heroes with SPWAW 4.4 and found a japanese infantry unit that looks more like a light tank or armored car !
How can I correct this in the scenario file ?

Hi german FJ's have picture of a halftrack but they are infantry as far as game play goes (no armour our 36point move) just a picture mix up I think. Does this IJA unit fire a cannon or make clanking noises when it moves?

You got me cold, guys !

I'm here at work and can't get the needed information right now !

But I remember, it's the southmost JA infantry at the startup.

I just wondered if it is just an OOB error or a flaw in the scenario file.

When I'm at home, you'll get the exact info !!!

If a unit is represented by a halftrack it simply means that the OOB has been edited since the scenario has been created, and the pic number is wrong.

When we are through with the OOB updates hopefully the scenarios will be revised too.

Thanks for the heads up, Soma. I thought I had fixed them all, at least all of mine. I missed that one. I will take care of it.

When it's done, I'll put the revision in the Game Depot and send you a copy if you wish.

Hi German FJ's bought for generated battles have Halftrack picture but right icon and attributes in game play. Just don't get to see the smiling faces when looking at unit.
Biggest issue with me so far (impacting my league online games) is missing Guards infantry and KV-1(E) in ver 4.4 since every german always comes with Tigers, Wurferman and SS, Russian needs his +10 infantry and big tank

Hi all,

I just realized, that in the Utah to Rine Campaign the Grille-38(t)M is represented by a infantry crew, that also suffers casualities like an infantry unit.
It still fires it's MA normally, but you can kill it with regular small arms Image
I found this bug in the two "defend Utah beach" scenarios.
Ciao

Also, the Marine sniper, in the selection menu, looks like a howitzer. He's still a guy on the map, and plays like a guy ... but ... Image

I've got it fixed, Soma. I'll send you a copy of the revision and replace the one in the depot.

As to the Grille 38T, in which battle did you see these. I'm looking for them but can't which battle they are in? If you can name or give me the date of the battle(S) where you saw these, I'll see what I can find.

I like shouting Image (as long as it's not fussing). It shows enthusiasm and I love enthusiastic folks.

Enjoy it Soma. It's one of those quickie scenarios, but it's fun.

It uses the same map that I offered to William Rusco for his great little Tulagi Campaign.

WB,

I found the Grille in your Utah-to-Rhine campaign, in the two defending battles which come up as battle 2 and 3 (after a draw in the 1st battle) Image

WB and Spellbinder,

I think the messed-up Grille-38(t)M is still there - it pops up in one of the D-Day scenarios and it shows up again in the scenario called "Under the Noel Trees" by M4-Jess. Moves like an AVF but is represented by a crew icon and doesn't have any armored strength. (Perhaps this is fixed in version 4.5 - I haven't had a chance to dl it yet.)

Great game!
