Searching for units - into the future

Post by Major SNAFU_M »

One thing I would like to see in TOAW X someday is the ability to sort all stacks of units on a map at one time.

Basically like the reveal HQs, except I would like to be able to select both the type and the formation of the units and have all of the ones that match on the map moved to the top of their respective stacks. If there are multiples of the same type in the stack, then they would all be moved to the top-most slots for the stack.

e.g. All Arty for yellow on red background formation, or all motorized infantry. etc.

Personally, I would like to be able to search and sort on formation, unit type, range, supply, readiness, etc.

For the amount of time spent on pouring over movement and maps, such a feature would save a hughe amount of time (for me) in having to hunt for a unit that I know is in one of these stacks in this area type of thing....

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but I tried to search to look as see if there had been a discussion and didn't find a good match.

Have you taken a look at the "Comprehensive Wishlist"?

Hi.

It never occurred to me to search for "wishlist". Change list, etc., yes.

I guess I expected that if such a thread existed, then it would be pinned to the top of the main forum. Where it resides I would have expected it to be focused on implementing new features to the scenario editor and event engine. I was focused on the playing end of things (but I can see why this would be a boon in the editor, if it is not there already - I've not had time to work with the editor much).

Thanks for providing the link. I've bookmarked it.

Yes.... even as I was posting the above, I had to remind myself that it was in the Scenario Design section to post the link.
