Unbelievable !!

been eyeing this game off for sometime and finally took the plunge ( no experience with any of its predecessors/cousins). last couple of years have been totally absorbed with the various combat mission titles as well as matrix's airborne assault series , absorbing and compelling games. but this....this .....well its just mind blowin!!! been lurking in the forums so i thought i kwew what i was letting myself in for , hey man, i could handle the monster TOAW scenarios in years past so how tough , really , could this be ? LOL!!!! have now spent about 15 hours on recon , fiddling with the small scenarios etc , getting some sort of handle on the game mechanics , going back to the manual , the usual. Then , yes just before , i loaded up a CAMPAIGN !![&o] quite incredible and just a litlle daunting. it seems a fantastic acheivment but where am i goin to get the time? the much discussed first turn deserves its reputation !! maybe i'll progress to next cycle in a week or so. nevertheless the satisfaction should be enormous , anyway , just thought i'd share my reaction with you all and congrtulations to all involved.

Well, YES, if you can sit down with a Staff like the real military had.  You can have the knowledge and expertise needed to run a war.

Yeah, yeah....no slight intended to the AI-only folks here. Enjoy the game how you wish, but I'll not cease my encouragement to everyone to try a PBEM. Few other games have given me such enjoyment playing against another human. I want everyone to have that experience.

No question this game is madness. If it could somehow be ported to an I-phone or even the upcomming I-Pad-hint, hint, some of us would be playing 24x7.

I recently got an I-phone. I used to think Mac users were mislead fanatics, but after years paying for unlimited internet access on my Windows smartphone and hardly ever using it because of the painful and near useless windoze smartphone IE interface, I decided to give the Iphone a chance.

Haven't looked back since. Yes I've been assimilated into the Apple collective-at least when it comes to portable devices.

Anyway welcome to the holy grail of games. Yes other titles like the Total War series may look pretier, but nothing comes close to WitP AE-especially against another human. Don't be afraid of making mistakes either. It happens and you learn from them.

Like real life you learn more from your mistakes than you do your successes.

Trick is to think in months or years in game time and planning. Take your time - and when youre stuck with something just ask, there will be always somebody
available to give you the answer, a couple of guys giving you contradicting answers, or, if everything fails, tell you that its an interesting question but noone actually knows the answer. [8D]

Better than having a mistress or a girlfriend! this game takes so much time that my kids are begging to see me again. I try to dedicate at least 3 game days per real day committment. Otherwise it is too easy to get lost or take a break from the game. think of it as a never ending chess match

The real fun will start when your opponent wrecks your grand war plan and forces a battle not of your choosing...and you ask yourself as you lick your wounds 'why didn't I see that coming!'

It's easy - you just have to remember you have over a thousand turns to get things "right". So no biggie if you forget something ;-D
