Refitting/upgrading ships

Post by martok »

Apologies if this has already been asked (most likely it has, and I simply missed the relevant post)....

Will we be able to refit existing ships with new/upgraded equipment, weapons, shields, etc., so that they can keep up with newer designs? Or are older vessels doomed to eventual obsolescence?

It'd be a pretty big design flaw if the game didn't support retrofitting of one's ships.

I never retrofitted my ships in Master of Orion 2. The new 'breed' simply slowly replaced the older revision lost in wars :)

I Hope the DW engine support retrofit of old ship to newest models...
I hate scrap old victorius ships, and worst seen them blow up in battle (from my enemy)
because i can't retrofit with the latest "toys" in battle field [:'(]

My stationary sistem ships ore usally the most advanced i can put in production

I can't find a reference or quote, but I'm 100% sure you can do this.

Yes, you can retrofit your ships to more recent designs. Ships travel to the nearest construction yard where they are upgraded.

Thanks, elliot -- for both your timely response, and for the answer being "yes". [8D]

Very cool! So if I tell a ship to upgrade itself, it will automatically head to the nearest yard without me having to specifically tell it to do so?

Ah, sorry Webbco. As I said in the OP, I kinda figured I'd missed the question being asked elsewhere (and that I just couldn't find it). Thank you sir! [:)]

Hehe, no worries. Sounds better coming from the main man Elliot anyway!
