Focused Airframe production

Post by undercovergeek »

In an attempt to streamline the emporers crazy production lines im refining the conveyor belts to produce the most effective and most required airframes only to foucus the output and would appreciate any advice on the final few stages having never reached that far in a PBEM:-

Carrier Fighter: A6M2 - A6M3a - A6M5 - then Jack or George
Army Fighter: Nate - Oscar 1c - Tojo - what next?
Carrier Dive Bomber: D3A1 - D3A2 - Judy - Grace
Carrier Torp Bomber: B5N1 - B5N2 - Jill
Sally production to be converted to Lily, Lilys only until the Helen and then the Helen only, with a few Lilys upgrading to the Dive Bomber model
Navy LB Bomber - Nell - Betty - Betty 2 or Frances?

Im working on recon and transport now

thanks for any thoughts

<<edit for recon and patrol and transport>>

im thinking navy - Tina, army - MC21 Sally until Tabby - and Dinah for land recon and its got to be mavis then emily for nav search

Frank is army fighter after Tojo, definitely. I think there isn't many units you can convert to Jack or George before 44, so I'm not sure is if it's good idea to rush those planes?

Why convert Sallys to Lilys?

Why convert Sallys to Lilys?

because i will use these converts to upgrade to the lily IIb dive bomber whilst the remainder of the Lilys switch to Helen

Why not just make a handful of Lily's for upgrading purposes? I would go heavy on Sallies until the Helen IIa (has armor) become available in 9/42.

The Sally carries more payload than the Helen Ia. The Helen Ia is not worth making. The Helen IIa, however, has the same payload as Sallies and also has armor. So the Helen IIa is my preferred level bomber once it becomes available.

I don't believe the Jack and George are carrier capable.

so to round up then - shut down Lily production and change its factories to Helen 2 R & D, increase sally production and keep the Sally until the Helen 2 is on the scene and upgrade everything to that?

If jack and george arent carrier capable realistically until the end game is the A6M5 the fighter of choice for flat tops then?

IMO the divebomber Lily is a crap plane, bombload is just 2 x 100 kg. I think there is no reason to produce it.

Yes, but the only Army Dive bomber available. Not exactly a good one but surely worth to have a few.

I don't like Army DBs. They can't be used anywhere where there is AA or they get shredded.

out goes the lily altogether then - Sallys it is until the helen 2 comes on line - ill build a lot of sallys and try and upgrade all the sonias, idas, marys and all the other antiques into this group too.

Im changing increasing Zero production to 150 - extra 94 from turn 1
increasing Oscar 1 c production to 150 - extra 118 from turn 1
increasing Bettys to 125 - extra 100 from turn 1
increasing Vals and Kates to 75 each - these are the major changes and should easily fall within the limits of supply requirements.

All airframes falling outside these boundaries and requirements will be changed to research of whats coming next.

Now an engine question, if im building 150 zeros a month, this does sound stupid to ask, but is it enough to build 150 HA-35 engines a month for this requirement only? i know my other planes need the same engine im just trying to figure whether 500 airframes a month needs matching to 500 engines a month or does the system work it out differently?

1:1 ratio except where you have multi-engined planes

Your lineup and thoughts on production mirror my own except for lilys I went for Sally IIa's waiting on Helen's. You'll be happier with those Oscar Ic they get a far heavier killer ratio than the others.

For Transports I went with Tina, and for Army the MC21 both have good range and far heavier capacity plus the engines are used IIRC in other airframes. For recon range means everything to me, I'd go with Dinah ;)

Here is a list of all the planes that use the Ha-35 engine. Your Ha-35 need will change throughout the war as plane types come and go.

Here's what I use to estimate engine need. Start with the AirframeProd tab and fill in the yellow cells. The rest will autopopulate. Then go to the Engines tab and fill in the yellow cells. Again, the rest will autopopulate. You'll then see what you need to do with your engine factories. You can play with airframe production and see how it affects your engine production. (Remove the .txt from the file in order to use it.)
