How do I buy this game?

Post by HsojVvad »

I called my local EB store here in Canada, and asked them about Distant Worlds. They say since it's not on their system, they will not be carring the game. WTF?! I don't buy games online. But I really want this game since it shows alot of promise. So, do I have to get myself a pre paid Credit Card and go somewhere to get this game?

From what I am reading, it looks maybe Thursday the game will be out. So I guess I will have to wait in 2 weeks to get the game, so it gives me time to get a pre paid Credit Card. So can someone give me a link where I can buy this game.

Distant Worlds will not be released to retail, it will be available exclusively through our Online Store, as with most of our titles. If you don't like to order online, you can always use the phone number in the store to call in an order - you can pay by credit card, paypal, check, bank transfer and other methods. We try to make it as easy as possible.

You can use Paypal like i do,  either way i have a question now that he mentions it,  those pre-paid debit credit card or debit credit card from a regular bank,  do you accept from anywhere or just from the U.S. or wherever your company is based?  In other terms local banks.

Ok, I will be getting a pre paid Credit Card. Usually I wait and read what people say about a game, but I will get this as soon as it comes out. So now we just have to wait I guess. I was going to ask when it will be released but I know better, since I read it in another post, so I know, it is soon.

So since I don't know how you guys work. Matrix is it? Sorry still new to this. But if I purchase with my pre paid Credit Card, do I get to download it right away? One reason why I don't buy online, is because, I am old fashioned. If I pay right away, I want to play right away. So if I pay with pre paid credit card, I get to download right away correct?

Buying online is the bee's knees! You should try it more often [:'(]

Maybe I will start to try it more now Baleur. I will see how my experiance with this game is. I did buy one game online. EU2 and it was a good experiance. but that was it. I still keep reading horror stories of people paying full for a game, and not being able to down load the game. So lets all hope things go well for everyone here.

HsojVvad, is that you? If so, then welcome!

And if not, you're still welcome anyway. [8D]

Those are the minoritary - I buy most of my games online now via Matrix, Steam, Impulse or Gamersgate - And I've never had a problem. The only time I've ever had a download problem was with Solium Infirnum - and thats only becase the small download company the dev used didn't expect the number of people who wanted to buy the game - and even then a quick email to the dev got me my game within the hour.

You have to remeber, that like most things in life, a lot of people on the internet only say something if they have a problem, and that kind unbalances what you see - you could have fifty angry people saying that "Dis Game Be Broke!" and 100,000 not posting because they are playing the game.

Yeah, saddly its the whiners who usually represent everything and voice their opinions as facts how no one can't play the game and how its completely broken etc. Thumbs up for you! Decent/clever folk on the internet = rare :)

I believe its said the game only takes ~350ish mbs, so it should be fast no matter how bad connection one has :)

Do note the small size is because there's no "hi-def 3d graphics" which take insane amount of space. Code is almost free in size and DW surely has more depth and stuffinside than generic 10-15gb game :D

It all depends on your own connection, so it's really hard for someone to guess how fast it might be without knowing what connection(I.e. 100Mbit up/down) to base the guess on.

But it also depends on the upload speed of Matrix.

Hm.
Is anybody here who might tell me how to buy this game without using a credit card?
Or does DR also use Click&Buy, like iTunes?

I am unexperienced with buying sth online, just iTunes and some things via Amazon...

I don't think it would be accurate to say I will be "playing" WitP. It will probably end up being more like dumbfound tinkering.

Haha don't worry, I once tried playing WITP(not the AE) over at a friends house who own it, and it made me feel like I was about as logic-gifted as a chimpanzee.[:D]
