ORIGINAL: hadrian_kamenov No change from size to size, also how long is it supposed to take the game to boot up on avg cause it takes almost 5 minutes...
Loading does take a while, but on a similar system here it loads in less than 1 minute. If this is a laptop, you should also check your power management settings to make sure it's not throttling things back.

Sorry for the delayed response, real life called me away. With updated drivers, the program seems to run a quick universe rather well, it still slows up when I ask it for a large uni with all 19 other races, and it still doesnt like nebulae been shown

Oh and PS double and triple checked the power settings, full power, still takes 4-6 minutes for bootup, emptying out the blackholes seems to be the longest

Hi Hadrian,

Thanks for the follow-up, I'm not sure why it would be slower on your system than on some older ones. Did you already check all background processes and turn off any programs (such as anti-virus/security software) that could potentially be interfering?

I'm glad you were able to get to an acceptable performance level with the settings we suggested, but I'm still puzzled as to why there is an issue at all on your system. The long load time is a symptom of the same issue I would think.

Regards,

- Erik

I have a new Dell Studio XPS 1650 notebook that is much more than capable of running this and had the same slowdown problem. Once I updated to the new ATI Catalyst Driver 10.3 the problem went away! I have all of the settings back to high and no slowdown. It is  important to update your drivers! [;)] If anyone is interested here the link on how to update them. Thanks Erik!
