...how it compares to Armada 2526? It know it's real time, but in terms of fun, depth, graphics, modding, etc. And I really like Armada, by the way!

Haven't got the game but from what I can tell this game has far more depth to it than Armarda. If I was going to buy one this would be the game...

Honestly this game is not at all like the typical Space 4X games.It is more like Europa Universalis in space,it is unique.

Sure, but my intention isn't to hijack this thread or game - I have high hopes for a real winner in Distant Worlds.

That said, Aurora is a free PC game that challenges even (dare I say it?) WITP: Admiral's Edition in terms of complexity, scope and challenge. It's not easy to learn or play: there is certainly a steep learning curve, but it's a beauty! If you want to get an idea of how the game plays and operates, check out some of the fan fiction (AARs) on the forum; here's a link to the game creator's fictional AARs - and everything you read about in the AAR comes directly from the game. It has to be experienced to be believed. I've never encountered any game that sparks the imagination like this one. I hope (please, please, please!) that Distant Worlds can do the same.

I think I'm getting too old for steep learning curves...

With Distant Worlds, you can play it after doing the tutorials. In-game help is great. A few hours in and it is very slick. The game editor allows you to modify and keep playing those lost-cause scenarios. That is a first, I think.

Don't know about the AI yet, but this game is making me very happy so far.
