Unit Surrender??

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

They surrender if attacked under the right conditions. So you don't have to grind them to the last man.

With some conditions (isolated, low morale) unit can surrender during the supply phase and without explicit attack.

Not only equipment, but maybe more importantly, fuel and other logistical supplies? What was on Elmo's screen...oh yeah...supply/need...fuel/need...ammo/need.

Would be great if the surrendering unit gave up 1/4 to 1/2 of its supplies! Nothing like scavenging for parts!

been there, done that!

There is no problem too big that can't be solved with the proper use of high explosives

You can capture fuel/supplies and some equipment does get captured and placed into your own pool and subsequently used.

Now that's cool. The dam German's were such pack-rats (thrifty if you like), remember they invented sausages, they'd find uses for even empty tooth paste tubes. A lot of German AT-guns in the 1942 time frame were capture Soviet 76.2 mm guns.

That's great to know, because as we all know the Germans made great use of captured equipment.

Here is the equipment that I've captured in my 1942 PBEM game. we are about 30 turns into the game. The "Captured" column shows how many I've captured. The "Unit" column shows how many units are outfitted with them and the "Pool" column show how many I have in the stockpile. I've noticed that you capture about 2% of a units equipment that surrenders.

Is the "vehicle repair" column an abstraction of captured trucks and other vehicles?
