Refueling - Bug or WAD?

I have a couple of ships that the A.I. allowed to run out of fuel. According to the Galactopedia, they are supposed to be able to make their way to the closest fuel station under emergency power. Yet when I give them the order to do so, they just sit there for a minute, and then I get a "Mission Complete" message.

Am I missing something here, or is it a bug?

just to add to this. i have ships sitting next a resupply ship that is deployed at a gas giant. i right click them to refuel and the only option is refuel at nearest refueling point. should be the resupply ship correct?? nah they want to fly halfway across the system to some other refueling station. what is the reason for this? supply ship doesnt have fuel to give, not right type of fuel, etc..? this also happens at my spaceports, ships want to fly somewhere else to refuel even though port is right there. they have even flown to the port but not refueled. i watch the port and all of its docking bays are available but the ships never show up as waiting to be docked and they never refuel. have had this happen to single ships and ships in fleet.

Regarding refueling, it should work they just move very slowly. Are these ships that have any damaged components? If they don't have hyperdrive they won't be able to move.

Does the resupply ship actually have fuel on board and is it deployed?

Same question would apply to the ports. If they have the fuel the ships want, the ships should go there. I would assume they are skipping it because they are not seeing fuel there, at least that's my best guess.

resupply ship is deployed at a gas giant and it has its own fuel(it did fly there). how can i tell if the ports and the resupply ship have the correct and proper amounts of fuel to disburse? thanks.

Maybe the fuel carrying ships have diesel or leaded, while the ship out of gas wants regular unleaded [:D] Or maybe they have no snacks and you know we need a snack bar now when getting gas LOL. [8D]

Hi CptHowdy,

The most typical fuels are Caslon and Hydrogen, IIRC. If you select the resupply ship and double-click on its name, you should get to its detail screen where you can see what cargo it has on board. If it's deployed and it has fuel on board, it should work as a refueling source. I tried this here today and it did work, but I may be doing something differently from you.

If you still have this issue, please upload a save file per the instructions at the top of this forum and let us know which save references this issue and we'll investigate.

Also, when I first started I tried deploying my resupply ship at a Frozen Gas Giant, I thought it was actually deployed. Then I had the problem of course of not be able to re-fuel my fleets there.

Once I re-deployed the supply ship to a regular Gas Giant, it worked fine. Once it "Really" deployed it re-fueled itself up, and I could send any ship there. However, it sometimes un-deployed itself which is annoying.

Erik has this been reported and are you guys aware of it?

It will not work on frozen gas giants.This needs to be added to the pedia.

just had a chance to check this out and my resupply ship has hydrogen as cargo, unfortunately my hyperdrives require caslon [:@] seems my space ports are also out of caslon. need to find more of it! if anyone takes out my only refueling station i am dead in the water so to speak! thanks for the help erik!
