Noob questions

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Noob questions

Post by invernomuto »

Hi to all,
I am starting my first PBEM against a friend of mine.
Scenario Avalanche 43, I am playing the Allies.
Some novice questions:
1 - in the PBEM setup screen the game ask for an e-mail. Do I have to write my opponent's mail? Is this feature useful? I still have to send the save to my opponent manually...
2 - My form up Airfield is the A/F in which my bombers will land after the raid?
3 - Is there a way to show on the map the maximum operational range for each squadron? For example, how far can I bomb with my B17s? How far can I escort with my Lighting?

Thanks!

Bye

#3: Apparently, as far as I know, there is no "range circle" to show you how far a certain plane may fly to bomb a target.  I wish they would add that feature.

Now, for your question about how far the fighter escort will fly with bombers.  If you make a bombing strike, after you've added your bombers, you'll notice when you add your fighter escort-one at a time-you'll see a green line appear along the same route of the bombers.  This green line indicates what portion of the strike the escorts will accompany the bombers.

Hope that helps.
God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.

sorry for the delay, having trouble with my computer (I think the last Window update, screwed up my XP)

Hi to all,
I am starting my first PBEM against a friend of mine.
Scenario Avalanche 43, I am playing the Allies.
Some novice questions:
1 - in the PBEM setup screen the game ask for an e-mail. Do I have to write my opponent's mail? Is this feature useful? I still have to send the save to my opponent manually...

? I think that is the page to add in your password for the game, and yes, you have to send your turn though the net, yourself

2 - My form up Airfield is the A/F in which my bombers will land after the raid?

no, that is where the raid will form up to take off from, once they return to the field, they will then split up and fly back to there own fields, for fighters flying with the raid, it takes into account, that it has to fly from and to it's field, as part of it's range (when setting up the raid, you will see how far away the bombers and fighters are from the form up field (IE, a fighter has a radius of 300 miles, and is one hundred miles away from the form up field, it is going to fly, 100 miles to the field, fly 150 with the bombers, then 150 miles back, and then 100 miles back to it's field, other words, it is better to have you fighters close to the form up fields)

3 - Is there a way to show on the map the maximum operational range for each squadron? For example, how far can I bomb with my B17s? How far can I escort with my Lighting?

as Rusty said

as you assign units to fly escourt, you will see the green line (which shows how far they will go, if nothing happens (combat, dropping tanks and what not) putting the unit on delay, will have it take off later, and join the raid after it has taken off

Thanks!

Bye

Hi,
thanks for answering my questions.

right, that is for your password, for a PBEM game (maybe the title of the page isn't the best, we knew it from long ago, so made sense to us (hassle with having people who know the game being testers, we tend to think everybody knows what we knew)
