End Game?

Post by Grim.Reaper »

Hello, I've been looking around here trying to decide if I should purchase or not and had some questions I could not readily see answered.

- What is the actual goal of the game to consider it over?
- What causes your game to end?
- How do you know if you won or lost, is there some kind of victory conditions?
- Does the game pretty much go until some victory is achieved or does it end after some preset year/condition?

If all this is answered somewhere, please kindly point me in that direction. Thanks!

You can change it to whatever you want, you can have an endless game, or change the victory conditions to colonizing a percentage of the galaxy, or being the only race alive...

You can customize the percentages for the following victory conditions before the game starts:
# of colonies
# of population
total galaxy economy

You can also set a time limit in years, and a minimum time before victory conditions apply.

Resistance is futile, you will be assimilated. [:D]

This game is supurb, one of the best 4X games I've played.

I am curious though. Can we still play the game after a goal is reached? Like in the old Civ games, games can still be played but score it not calculated. This way I can say I lost the Economy game but won by conquering everyone later.

It could go both ways. If you won the economy game but an AI military was dominating would you continue that game to let the opponent win the domination? [:D]

We could assume that an economic or other victory leads to such a... lead that you can never be beaten thus you are voted/considered the ruler of that galaxy, never to be challenged.
Wish list:population centers beyond planetary(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Culture):Ships,Ring Orbitals,Sphere Orbitals,Ringworlds,Sphereworlds;ability to create & destroy planets,population centers,stars;AI competently using all advances & features.
