Ship graphic question

Post by wodin »

Does each species have its own set of ship graphics? I always imagine a game where each component has its own graphic so a ship ends up looking like its particular components...though this would be a massive undertaking I'm sure.

From what I have read, each race can use all the ship graphic templates. There is suppose to be an option in the editor thatmakes each race stick with a certian graphic set, but I don't know how to do it.

Don't quote me, but all races have one of the 9 different ship sets (ignoring the few 'rare' ships for inds etc), some sets are more shared between races than others. Humans and some other race forexample had same ships, while other three shared set different from them and so on.

Also some pirates and inds aren't tied to ship set, but they pick whatever set they want. I've had pirates run on my custom ships I limited to humans only. I believe the major races however stick to those set for them if possible..

then again would be nice to make sort of looter/thief race that uses random graphics for every of their ships... you know, they steal all their ships from others, at least in story wise :)
