It's a breath of fresh air to see a game with online help (pedia). I love strategy games with online help and info...great feature [&o]

And the game is stable to boot. ALT-TABBING works a treat. [&o]

How do you rate it to other games you've bought recently?

I agree Judge, in this day and age of multi-tasking it is a travesty to not support alt-tab. One recent biggie is Bad Company 2.

One way they do that is by somehow 'faking' full screen...

Which I honestly didn't think possible.  I'm guessing it's something new with the .net framework.

Yes I do...but beware - I do have a tendency to move onto other games...sometimes quite quickly. That isn't to do with the game itself not holding my attention, but because I have a short attentio....oh...a fly....sorry - a short attention sp...oh...another one

[:D]

It is a great game. And I have tried many 4x games and didn't like them. Obviously there are some with technical teething problems. I've had none. I've only had the other "what is that doing" problems, and those are mostly down to lack of understanding.

As for rating it with other games...can't say tbh. I've recently bought Midway. Great game and was getting played regularly until I purchased this. Will I be playing this when I buy my next game? No idea. All I know is it's providing lots of strategic fun right now.

Judge,

How does the game play on your system? What type of galaxies do you play?

It plays fine. Ticks along nicely. I have noticed, on occasion, that a planet might take a second or two to appear...but apart from that I've not noticed any issues.

As for the Galaxies, the biggest I've loaded is 700 stars. On top of that, I didn't have many enemy races and a small amount of pirates/bugs. That's because I want to get used to the system before I have to worry about fighting and diplomacy though...no other reason.

I'm very much like you. Flit from one game to another. I haven't played a game for longer than say three months since the Close Combat series came out. I'm still waiting for one to hold my attention for a long time. I have hopes for War in the East and CM Normandy. ALso Panthers next release...CotA would have been played more if I had more of an interest in the Agean battles. Achtung PAnzer has my attention at the moment....and Dragon Age held me for two weeks...still loads to to do in it but I'm fed up already.

The game that's held my attention the longest lately has been Solium Infernum - been playing it since October.  But that's largely due to playing several PBEM games at once.  If it was just single player, I might have put it down by now.

Speaking of Midway, Judge, that's been on my short list - how's the documentation?

Amen, Brother. Solium is a special game, especially multi-player.

I was interested in Armegedon Empires until I tried the demo. It seems to unrefined to me and not what I'm used to or prefer. Though, the art work and these are fascinating.
