Dissapeared Marine Fighter Squadron

Post by jb123 »

The Marines failed in their CAP mission and the CVE Long Island was sunk by some betties. My combat report claims the VMF diverted to the Lexington. But, they are not there. The Lexington says it has 93 planes with 90 slots. Not counting planes in reserve, she should have 90 planes.

I can't find the VMF in the list all planes window, either land or sea.

Joe Foss is gone.

Anyone have any idea where they went?

Also, anyone know why I can't order Marine fighter squadrons to "resize to fit ship"? I want a VMF of wildcats stationed permanently on some CVEs, the only option is to turn off the automatic resize to 24 planes in 43.

Looks to me like they didn't have enough space and pushed the excess fighters overboard. Hopefully you're pilots will show up somewhere eventually.

jb123,

This might sound silly, but when you are on the carrier's ship display, see if you can scroll down in the air group section of the screen. Some carriers have so many different AA devices that when you put a 5th squadron on board the last one scrolls of the page.

jb123 do you know the exact designation of the squadron?
If yes it should be easy to find. Just list all marine squads from the top menu and if its still here you should see it.
If not I´d ask in the tech forum.

thanks menser, I'll try that. Didn't know I could look for destroyed groups.

I did scroll down and check all marine squadrons.
