Windows 7 and/or Vista

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Windows 7 and/or Vista

Post by Captain B »

I did a quick look through the forum but did not see a question asking if WitE is compatible with Windows 7? Has anyone been running it on Windows 7. I know that for some of the help files in PzC games that they produce spurious error messages.

Thanks.

I have been running tests on XP Pro, and Windows 7. Works like a champ on 7 with 4 gigs.

I've been testing with XP and only 768mb of ram and it plays fine. The AI's move takes some time (30 min), but I can live with it until I convince the wife of the need for more ram...lol...

Same on one of my test laptops its running XP Pro with 1 Gig, the AI is very slow, on a 4 gig W7 machine the AI is done in like 5 minutes for the Axis AI and if the Soviet AI is crushing a lot of nasty Germans in 43/44 then it make take 10...

2 gigs should be the enough minimum. The game itself is using up to 600M right now. Having just 1G can cause disk swapping.

I can only assume that if it works well with Win7, it will function with Vista x64. Oh, man... this game is at the very, very top of my wishlist. Come on, late summer!

Ideally, what RAM, processor, etc. do you recommend running for optimal gaming with War in the East?
(I am having my spare computer upgraded)
