Graymane: Good to see you. The "work" has an bad habit of interrupting other activities. Also been swamped with work. Good thing about it though is that I do not need to travel that much.

The game gettin "warm" again. I had an a little "pause" on updates while ago since really wasn't that much going on.

Now it is an diffrent story though and regular service will resume and intensify from now on.

I will do an general update during the weekend so you and others get a feeling what is what. Dave will be out of town so should have plenty of time for this.

Rob: That is most likely since if he would commit into Fiji's than we would have seen stronger forces at Samoa's.

Those bases not important to him as you said but somewhat important to me since I really need some good airbases on the map before the summer of 1943's.

Otherwise those lba units will just enjoy the sun without doing good combat missions.

The plans are moving accordingly. Once we get recon from New Caledonia and Fiji's time to deciede what to do with them. If strongly garrisoned then we will swing pass by them! [;)]

I know you like evil plans and will try to serve you some! [:D]

ME ?? Evil ! . perish the thought. Think I'm about to get my arse kicked in my PBEM .. so I'm happy to see good allied play as a cheer-me-up [;)]. As you Say Suva is useful for you , i was referring to its lack of viability for Japan now the allies have some real teeth.

Love seeing all those green icons on the map .. makes a refresing change from a sea of red. Keep up the good work !
sorry for the spelling . English is my main language , I just can't type . and i'm too lazy to edit :)

Rob: No, I will hold on to that thought! [:D] Oh, that not nice to hear allthough the best lessons are learned the hard way.

Lets just say that there are plenty of bases and a lot miles to recover but one must start somewhere.

Yeah, Suva is nice but not necessary. I kind of would like to see him reinforce the place or such. Starving POW camp would also be nice addition to my plans.

Red colour makes an headache, green colour means smiles all around! [:D]

Operation Monkey (april 28th - 29th 1943)

We can now confirm that Samoa Island chain is fully liberated. Good news and I start an immediate build up here and engineers should upgrade these ports and airfields fast.

Also NZ and US troops achieved their objectives so it will pinzer the Fiji's and threaten New Caledonia.

I have already lba fighters and bombers coming in and these guys are no rookie pilots so let him come I say.

Initial recon towards Fiji's shows the bases lightly garrisoned. I doubt that is any news nomore but I must admit that I was wrong here. I came in expecting all an full scale slaughter in both sides but it seems that I was wrong.

I think we will see stiffer opposotion in the Guadacanal region though.

Here is an pic showing new ownership of the Samoa Islands...

Burma (april 28th - 29th 1943)

I have stand down the RAF / US bomber operations for time being here.

The guys are now rested and waiting the right moment to unleash them once more. Pilot experience levels are not in good shape and the US reinforcements are still sometime off from this region.

The ground warfare is advancing slowly ahead. Our troops reached Myithkina and immediate assault is scheduled next turn.

Few of our guys have been resting up and are almost in full battle readiness once more.

I have seen quite a few news showing reinforcements heading towards Singapore or Rangoon.

He is definately correct this is no feint operation to get his attention here.

The pic shows latest strategical positions of our forces....

Looks like he has already withdrawn from the South Pacific.

LOL, see Rob that was....errrrmm day before yesterday I think...was fun...and then I saw how fast Mars and Fortuna swich sides... [&o]

Aztez Samoa/Tonga operation looks nice. [:)]
How fast can you move the USAAF in to prepare for Fiji?

Btw. I would switch to those Hellcats that Graymane finds so yummy as fast as possible. For survivability alone. Saves one or the other potential
ace...

Graymane: The Hellcats are beauty to watch!

I wonder if that is actually the case here. He captured couple of dot. bases near New Guinea so he is definately planning to put up an fight here.

Also got an report that enemy division is loaded at Saipan. Thus "loaded" means it is moving somewhere.

LoBaron: Well, Rob is "evil" in this game! No doubt about it... [:D] (in an good way)

I think I can pull the invasion againts Fiji's quickly. I have already troops released and prepped at Oz.

These guys were actually preparing for New Caledonia but have now switched their focus into Fiji's.

There are plenty of troops around CenPac waiting for their orderes to move ahead.

I will actually upgrade these at Sydney. Only have to wait that the landings and bases are secured.

We should have the Hellcats ready for an operations againts Fiji though.

Pacific (april 30th - may 4th 1943)

Operation Monkey

The operation is almost concluded.

There were no initial strong enemy forces encountered. Only an naval guard unit and some supporting troops were destroyed at Pago Pago.

Also couple of merchant ships were sunk near Fiji's.

In terms of air losses we lost 10-20 planes while japanese losses were around 30-60 aircraft destroyed.

Next stop will Fiji or those surrounding bases close to it. I have troops ready at Oz waiting for their transports. These guys were originally prepped for Noumea but orders have now changed.

US carriers will stop at Oz and upgrade to Hellcats.

Only worrying / intresting development is that allied signit showed enemy infantry division loaded at Saipan. A couple of "dot" bases were also seized near Lunga / New Guinea.

Burma

Japanese won an ground combat victory near Myithkina. He had some 650av worth of infantry here. That was an suprise since my recon flights hadn't indicated this.

RAF / US airforces have not flown combat missions in past few days. We are regrouping and refitting here.

Allied recon missions indicate still heavy presence of enemy fighters and bombers stationed in multiple airfields near Mandalay.

I'am revising my operational plans here and moving reinforcements from the rear into frontlines.

Alaska / Hawaji

Enemy made some effort at Umnak Island to stop our bombings. IJA fighters were swept aside and now the bombing runs are uncontested.

At Hawaji and Christmas Islands there are plenty of reserves available and these are resting and preparing.

China

Things have calmed down a lot here. After the last japanese offensive near Kweiyang nothing has been reported.

I think we have now halted the enemy advance towards Chungking. This has been one hell of an ride here though.

However there are large "training bombing" runs reported so he is using the country to build up experience levels for his pilots.

aztez I was wondering where your P38´s are sitting around? I don´t see their replacement pools but if you
got a couple available and can station them in the Burma area of operations that could tip the balance. And make life tough
for one or the other Japanese trainee trying to get a free raid on Chinese troops.

Yes, Rob is a fox. I´m fighting a defensive battle with the occasional dash forward to relieve the pressure.
My worst opponents atm are Rob Brennan (1) and my own stupidity (2). Left some unprotected reinforcement TF´s
at recently conquered Milne Bay and he showed up with a BB/CA mix and made sure I don´t have to worry about refueling them
after the mission...thats it for the larger IJN merchant fleet in this scenario. Watching 15 of the largest AK´s going down is only funny in hindsight... [:D]

Aztez - sorry I haven't been reading your AAR for about ten days. I noticed you said your LCU got mauled at Myithkina. You may already know this, but I always do a "reconnaissance by fire" with one unit doing Bombardment, before I launch a full Deliberate attack. Keeps you from being surprised.

Hi! As stated on the AAR I have been steamrolled with work. I must say 2010 hasn't started as the way I planned it.

No worries though. The campaign is ongoing allthough we haven't achieved much so far have made some additional blunders.

LoBaron: Quite a few of P38's are stationed in Aleutians area. I have moved some in the southern as pacific as well.

I did recieve some Thunderbolt fighter bombers and immediately dispatched them into South East Asia. It will take a bit of them to travel though.

The burma operation as many other things are not going according to plan. More on them in detailed theatre reports though.

I can relate to that feeling. My worst enemies are 1) Dave and followed closely 2) Own stupidity. I have made enough blunders here to last an lifetime.

cfulbright: Hi! No worries mate. I guess I should be a bit sorry since haven't had time update these things. Barely have had time to do the turns.

Yeah.. my LCU's were suprised near Myithkina. Very nasty suprise.. poor gameplay on my part and good from Dave's perspective! I'am flying a lot recon missions now all around Burma.

Now I'am getting better results from those too and I can see how he has setup his airfields among other things.

Burma (may 5th - 23rd 1943)

I have flown extensive recon missions all around Burma. The reports indicate that he has anywhere between 40-70 aircraft per airfield here.

The fighter bomber ratios seem to be 2:1 in most bases.

In Rangoon Dave has 200-250 fightes ready to be deployed. This ofcourse if our recon intel is correct.

Very suprised to see this since the air war has been anything but peaceful in this game. I can only dream of such forces in this theatre for time being.

The Myithkina operation was an failure. We bumped into some 800av worth of enemy troops there and were forced to withdraw.

This ofcourse means that the Schwebo operation is at least postponed.

I need to regroup here and bring in additional replacements from the rear.

Japanese are really putting up an fight here for sure.

China (may 5th - 23rd 1943)

I have made an blunder here. This was done mostly due very hectic work weeks. You get these errors when you are doing turns 1/2 braindead!

I didn't sport the IJA troops moving around our troops in the northern china. Thus this lead into situation were he moved around 80 000 behind our frontlines here and pushing towards inner plains here.

There are now some 100 000 also in the mountaneous region making assaults againts our forces. So far we have not been forced to retreat though but this will happen sooner than later. He has some 4000-5000av moving here.

In southern china Dave tried tip the scales too but this ended up in an stalemate.

Poor gameplay by me. I really should have paid attention here since this an rookie mistake.

However this does not mean that the frontlines are collapsing. I making some adjustements here to deal with this situation.

Southern Pacific (may 5th - 23rd 1943)

I have been mostly building up airfields here and also flown some recon missions here.

Last few turns has showed increased numbers of enemy aircraft at Fiji's.

Another intresting information came from allied signit reports:

"8/4th Division is loaded on AK Sagami Maru at Saipan (108,93)"
"2/1st Air Army is loaded on xAK Toho Maru moving to Munda."
"3rd Shipping Engineer Regiment is loaded on xAK Manyo Maru at Rabaul (106,125)."
"8th JAAF AF Bn is planning for an attack on Pago Pago."

Also the port at Rabaul is reported empty. A turn or two ago there were reports of heavy traffic.

Now adding these up I wonder what is planning here...

Aztez,

Seems like you are not playing so much anymore. Too bad, this was one of my favorite AARs.
