My central objectives in the South Pacific since Dec. 8 were to build a strong defence at Noumea and to create a line of reconnaisance outposts from Palmyra to Lord Howe Island. It is now operational....though a bit too late for the carrier lost with nothing to show for it off Sydney.

If the Japs are headed to Noumea, I think they will find the defences stronger than anticiapted. Here is the recon network in action.

I think Lord Admiral Alfred may actually be right. I have not confirmed it yet, but I think resource pts. are being consumed at Manila. They might, however, be being attrited somehow by Jap bombardment.

In any event, it isnt enough. The boys are into the orange at Manila. I am going to try to run in some more AK's.

This year, in order to share my pride, and flaunt it to the other docs, I went to my colleagues office to show off and he had the same GD xeroxed sign. Then I went up to the second floor and, you guessed it, the same GD sign on every office.

How about just using "Your One of the Best" or "Keep up the Good Work" or even just "Keep up the Work" or "Arbeit macht frei" but don't tell somebody they are the best and then give it out to everyone.

If they didn't inventory everything I would take some pens or something.

No need to take such a defeatist attitude. The manual is not really misleading but it does require careful reading.

In WITP classic, resource centres produced both resource points and supply points. In WITP:AE, they produce only resource points. These reource points (a raw material) are required by your industrial production facilities, Heavy Industry (which also requires fuel) and Light Industry in order to produce supply.

Manila has both local raw material production (IIRC 40 resource centres which generate 800 resource points) and local industrial production (IIRC 100 Light Industry centres which require input of 1500 resource points). As you have a deficit of 700 resource points, your local Manila raw material production is insufficient to fully feed your industrial production, hence the value of the Altimonan (sp) base, a few hexes south of Manila, which has a large raw material surplus which is exported to Manila to keep the Light Industry at 100% production.

Your local Manila raw material deficit problem is of course exacerbated if (a) you can no longer import raw materials from either overland (no supply paths available or raw material production facilities now under Japanese occupation) or sea borne trade, or (b) enemy troops are located at Manila. However provided you have resource points stockpiled at Manila, your Light Industry facilities will continue to produce supply because industrial production is not stopped by the mere presence of enemy troops. Industrial production continues if the necessary raw materials available and the industrial centres are themselves not damaged as a result of enemy air strikes. The fact that you have noticed a decrease in your resource points at Manila confirms my earlier posts that your Light Industry is still producing.

Now all of this may seem a bit inconsequential but hopefully it will serve as a revision exercise which will make you aware that at Pearl Harbor, your local raw material production is insufficient to fully feed your industrial production facilities. Don't forget to send a xAK every so often from Pearl Harbor to the Hawaiian island which generates a surplus of resource points in order to bring back to Pearl Harbor the necessary raw material.

It just seems to me that it is preferable for you to maintain prouction at Manila for as long as possible rather than having to rely upon purchasing supply on the spot market (at those inflated prices) from that nice looking man in neatly pressed linen trousers from M & M Entreprises. We don't want any more experiences like those quoka huts being delivered to the jungle environment of Luzon, do we?
