Wormholes

Distant Worlds is a vast, pausable real-time, 4X space strategy game which models a "living galaxy" with incredible options for replayability and customizability. Experience the full depth and detail of large turn-based strategy games, but with the simplicity and ease of real-time, and on the scale of a massively-multiplayer online game. Now greatly enhanced with the new Universe release, which includes all four previous releases as well as the new Universe expansion!

Wormholes

Post by Gertjan »

Wouldn't it be cool if we could have one or perhaps two wormholes (randomly places) on each map. That would open up a lot of interesting strategic options (such as control over the wormhole's entry and exit points) a la DS9. I'm just afraid that the AI may not be able to cope with this interesting strategic concept (perhaps that is why it is not in the game currently). What do you guys think?

Why not... It would be good for a resort base.

Good idea for an expansion. Wormholes allow access to 'off map' areas which can be colonized and exploited and fought over.

I like it, particularly with fuel over long distances being an issue and so forth. Also, regions of space which are dangerous and have landmark names to them; we can have more of them, dangerous to pass through in hyperdrive and so a wormhole gives a tactical workaround.

You want even bigger universe? A wormhole that points to another 1400 stars? [:'(] I'd rather see a patch that overhauls the game engine and takes care of all the bugs and glitches in game related to automation. [;)]

or how about
Wormholes open NEW map... different galaxy entirely
for myself I find the game too easy to get around... to fast .. but It would be cool to find the Ring of Anotherplacia.. etc
This game does lend itself to wild cards

Maybe if it was a 64-bit game. I'm just thinking about the one galaxy! :)
