Post by Carl Myers »

Has anybody been receiving German replacements on turns 2, 3 or 4?

There was a post on another forum to say they only arrive on specific turns.

It doesn't seem to have been mentioned in the documentation, but both sides also receive replacements for friendly units lost.

The algorithm seems to be about 1 replacement step for 3 units lost by Axis and twice that rate for the Soviets but it could be based on step losses as well.

These replacement steps are generated by step losses if I understand the editor settings correctly. Germans get 2x more replacements this way than the Soviets do (as Dave mentioned above).

If a stack surrenders, the steps lost during surrender do not apply for generating these replacements. I highly recommend the German player get surrender results when it is possible!

Is that "losses into replacements steps" feature part of the engine and does it apply to all scenarios using it, or is it an editor feature?

Not going to happen often, you need a 3 or higher at 20-1 odds, assuming you don't get a tank shock modifier.

It is an editor feature, Special Replacements on the second Country Data screen. 1 replacement for every 4 German steps or 8 Soviet steps lost.

Whenever possible/feasible, German commander should do this!!! Along with having units next to Soviet stacks (which prevents refit steps from being received)!!!

These are two easy ways (as the German commander) to keep the Soviets from getting too strong!
