Where's the Japanese PT boats?

Post by moose1999 »

I always thought the Japanese used plenty of PT boats.
But having got to January 43 in my game as the Japanese I haven't had a single PT made available to me yet.
Am I mistaken about the Empire's use of PTs?

I think the production starts later. January 43 is too early.

At start of the game Japan have 6 MTBs. They are scattered all over the map, but you can return them to pool and use later where you want.

Don't look for anything resembling an Elco.

Ok.
I just thought I heard the Japanese used PTs in Guadalcanal.
But I'll be patient and wait, then :-)

I've also converted a few of the MGBs to MTBs. That will increase your numbers, but only slightly.

It's funny, the Japanese did fiddle with larger S boat types (>40 tons) but because they couldn't produce a diesel with sufficient horsepower these prototypes ended up with top speeds of ~28 kts or worse...

I assume because these were so lack luster and never actually became serial production models they are not in the game.

I think they were focused on the 600 ton TB theory too much to care about a 15-20 ton vessel. Course neither worked out for Japan.
Yamato, IMO the best looking Battleship.
