Cairns seems to be a very good ASW vessel, compared to all the other AMs in this area... if a ship attacks, usually it´s AM Cairns... should check the captain and the crews experience...

the enemy is moving eight units onto Hengyang and will cross the river soon... we´ve got 3000 av there (without supplies of course as we can only supply units OUTSIDE of bases - stupid [8|]) and we´ve got level 5 forts. It´s a clear hex so I expect the enemy to shred us as soon as he has recovered from the river crossing... at the same time we try to get an Army into his back but you´ve got a unit in every hex to stop supply flowing into it so cutting the enemy off will be hard to impossible as he can dislodge any of my Armies smaller than 1000 av in clear hexes easily...

big combined strike on Lae... Lae and Buna should be closed forever... two of our divisions from Port Moresby have moved out of the hex and are now one hex West of Buna... expect Buna to fall within the next three weeks, what is now there shouldn´t be much of a threat and it should be only reinforced by the IJA div that was forced to retreat from PM. Our divebombers should make reinforcing any base in range of Port Moresby a very dangerous task... only fast transport TFs are an option IMO but if something gets screwed up, you will lose cruisers or destroyers... of course KB could support reinforcements or an evacuation but then KB runs into danger of being hit hard by LBA if we get a coordinated strike of dive bombers and fighters.

Cooktown´s bombers were set on airfield attack and Merauke´s level 1 airfield was hit hard. Most of the fighters turned back due to technical faults or were damaged... the have not been any threat to our bomber formation and this time we´ve destroyed a good number of enemy fighters on the ground... Milne Bay has reached level 8 airfield some time ago and also PM´s airfield is suitable for our heavy bombers and we could bring them in any time to fly a massive strike out of New Guinea already...

second sweep... [8|] two squadrons, two sweeps, nothing new... those two squadrons are the creme de la creme of Allied land based aviation and if those two can´t fly together you shouldn´t expect any other formation to fly together... ridicoulos but that´s how it works... Mandalay got no Cap in the air and that´s quite surprising as there are quite a lot of ac at the base... got a hundred medium bombers in India (non Blenheim) and am thinking about using them soon... guess I know the outcome already though... will use 300 fighters for a sweep, none of them will go in before the bombers, the bombers will come in piecemeal without an escort and they will meet 50+ Tojos that will shred my bombers... then the sweeps will trickle in one by one to be bounced and shred too... in the end we´ll lose five months of medium bomber replacements (Wellingtons: 6 per month[8|]) and a good number of fighters for a dozen Tojos shot down over their own base...
if I would upgrade my Indian Mitchells to 4Es, the enemy would have to abandon all of Burma just because I´ve got four dozen heavy bombers in India...
