A little humor

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Wargamers will understand this one...Two guys were talking the one asked, do you belive in reincarnation, no not really. He then says lets just say its true and you could come back as anyone in the world, who would that be? He replies, I'd come back as my wife and leave me the hell alone....

Good that what ever has been ailing you has not had an effect on your sense of humor. The life of a wargamers wife can sometimes be a bewildering experience.

As my wife has said to me more than a few times... "How you can spend hours pushing those little squares around the monitor is a #%@$@$ mystery to me" [&:]

You guys have it all wrong. You need to get a job in the games industry, then you can say you are doing "Market Research". This has worked for me for nearly 30 years - 30th anniversary on May 3rd.[:D]

I know a lot of wargamers (mostly all board gamers) and only a few (one or two) have I ever heard this about. The most notable is the war gamer cop, he plays a lot of games, but his favorite is ASL he has a web/pod cast and sometimes his wife plays games with him (I don't think she plays ASL though).

There was a period, before the family arrived, where my wife and I played Kingmaker (until she beat me), The Original Civilisation Boardgame (until she beat me), Source of the Nile and Title Bout.

True Love.

Comrade P...don't do it....yeah have a relastionship...thats cool...but don't ever live together....especially if you've been on your own for awhile and fairly independent...there really is no need to live together..I was one my own for 7 years...the a whirlwind romance and married...10 years later and alot of pain we dont live together anymore...and I breath a sigh of relief...just waiting on my new flat as living at the mother and father in laws for the last 8 months has been hard work.

The worst part of a marriage, to me as someone with no experience with it, is the thought of possibly having to eventually break up. In fact, that's what will probably keep me from getting married at some point. If the person you love wants you to sign a legal document to prove that love and will continue to love you only then, it's time to get the hell out of dodge IMO. Of course, there are plenty of happy marriages, but in my circle of friends/contacts/relatives, I see mostly the wrecks or the sometimes still burning ruins of what once might've been happy marriages.

I've been married for twenty four years and my wife has never understood my fascination with wargames. I must say that she is pretty good though as she lets me get on with it, even when i take over a whole room to play the Longest Day.

Boys, I have the solution.

My wife has been doing a PhD for the last four years - she spends more time on her PC than I do playing war, gawd bless 'er.

OMG - she's finishing this summer and WITE comes out then....
.....OK, I'm sure some Post-Doc research will be vital too!

(Oh, I guess BTW love and kids have something to do with all this marriage thing - , baby, and take your time with the final submission.)

My wife thinks I play "computer" games and places me in that category.

I have tried to explain about wargames but she does not get it !

My response/defense to my gaming habit with my wife has been that I could spend several hours playing computer games at home, and which is also a family event often times, or I could go out with the guys god knows where and spend a bunch on drinks. Which one do you think she prefers?
