Let's Get the Chant Started

From the first clash at Manassas to the epic confrontation between Lee and Grant, the Brother Against Brother series will bring new levels of historical detail and realism to the battles of the Civil War. This regimental-level game, created by the developers of the award-winning Forge of Freedom, builds on that game’s acclaimed tactical engine, adding scrupulously researched orders of battle, high-quality map graphics, command and control rules reflecting the numerous challenges faced by army commanders, and plenty other features. Beginning with The Drawing of The Sword – which recreates the pivotal opening battles at Manassas , Wilson ’s Creek, Mill Springs and Williamsburg – Brother Against Brother lets you refight the Civil War from start to finish.

I have no idea what a screen shoot is, but I'll go along with your other two suggestions. [:D]

It won't work. Screenshots require finished map graphics. Finished map graphics require prototyping AND draft maps that are to serve as guidelines for the final maps. The good news is that Pixelpusher is now starting to prototype, and once he has figured out his techniques he'll be able to create the final maps. As for the draft maps here is their status:
Mill Springs, Map 1 (main battlefield): 100% done
Mill Springs, Map 2 (CSA encampment, for late-afternoon and what-if scenarios): 97% done
Wilson's Creek: 90% done
Williamsburg: 85% done
Manassas: 60% done (but that includes the 2nd Manassas battlefield as well for a future release)
At this very moment I'm taking a break from the Manassas map, having just finished drawing in the fence lines in the Chinn Ridge area. After finishing the vegetation there I will be on the eastern side of the Manassas-Sudley Road, which is a major benchmark.

If all goes well the draft maps should be done within two weeks, and then Pixelpusher takes over. So, no screenshots just yet.

EDIT: I should add that we're able to test on draft maps, and these don't need to be 100% finished for that purpose.

Well, nobody is asking for 100% finished screenshots ... [;)]

Yeah - but even the most well intentioned people who understand the situatioon can't offset the number of dim wits who will complain about this, that or the other based on these "not so" 100% screenshots. I totally see Gils point.

(I do know you were joking by the way!)

For now, the most I'm willing to show is what a "draft" map looks like. Here's the Chinn Ridge area, which I finished tonight. (I also took care of brooks and streams in the SE quadrant of the map.) I do this in Photoshop using both a Google Maps (visible) and Google satellite image (hidden) as the background, and then copying from whatever map(s) I'm using.

At some point I'll go into the map-making process, since it's quite interesting, but not until I'm done with the maps and have time!

And Judge Dredd, you're right about one of the reasons for not releasing screenshots of our test maps (which don't even use final graphics, and have some bizarre elements, such as purple fences). I feel okay releasing this image because anyone dumb enough to think this is from our final graphics is too dumb to play our game.
