LV & WT patch downloads.

Post by Anzac Guy »

I have been reinstalling all 3 MCs on to my XP machine and all is well except I cannot download the patches for LV & WT. I have all the patches installed for DF and it is going sweetly. One bug I have noted is that if you save your megacampaign with a forward slash ie 2/3 for turn 3 of scenario 2 then crash and the game is gone for good. This seems to be true for my Win98 and XP machines and 7.0 and 7.1.

Very interesting observation about slashes in the save file name. The downloads are working fine, I just tried them all. But how and why would you save your mega in such a way? You have to name the file before you even start so why name it in a turn/scenario format, becuase you can't change the name mid stream like normal games?????????????????? But you are correct the / or \ cause instant crash, thanks for the heads up.

gmenfan, are you sure about not being able to rename the file in midstream? I have been able to do so without causing any problems. I will name it initially something like LV-01 or WT-01. When I go back in and load a save I just add an extention the the end with it's current turn so LV-05.3 is the 3rd turn of the 5th scenario that I played. I always copy the 01 files (start of the scenario) into another save folder, although I've never had a CTD that corrupted a game(yet). It's worked for me on all three MC's.

Yeah I mis-spoke, sure you can rename the files mid stream manually by exiting out of the game and renaming manually in the folder. I was fixated on the save procedure in normal games where everytime you save it gives you the option to name the save what ever you want.

I hear what you are saying, but I do this while in game, or at least when I start up a new save. I just use the backspace key to get into the name field and go from there.
