I find it rather sad that some people take it as a personal offense if anyone ever posts a thought that they disagree with.  The current PDU off/on thread is the latest example.  [8|]

But did you happen to notice that its the usual suspects? [;)]

Ooh, nearly 7500 there, Mike. And in only seven and a half years![:'(]

I took me about 4.5 years to get my first 100 posts. [:D]

See. What would you have done without The Thread? [:D]

Oh no!  A Meeting Troll at 3 o'clock!

You have a meeting 5 hours ago? [&:]

That would have been a successful evasive maneuver, no? [:)]

My lovely bride and I had the pleasure of lunching with Mr. Peabody Jr. yesterday afternoon.  Quite an enjoyable time and a very charming fellow.  Now, we just need to get the old Rocket Scientist himself up here for a real live Thread Brother summit.  [8D]

Bruce, you've done a great job with the care and feeding of that one, my friend!  [:)]

GFU and I were just talking last night about someplace nicer to move to after our business in NY is concluded. Somehow, NC came up. [:)]

I watched the original Star Wars with my boy this weekend. He's only 6, but has already heard many snippets from a variety of sources. Rather than let him fill his head with Episodes I-III nonsense, I decided to start ingraining (read: brainwashing) him now.

The reference by Sir Alec Guiness / Kenobi to Mos Eisley space port caused me a snicker-you may find it apropo: "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy". [8D]

Good Morning.

Found a dead opposum in my driveway, investigation continues.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To prove to the possum that it could be done. [:D]

You may be on to something.

Post-Mortem revealed extensive internal injuries. I'm suspecting a Hit & Run pedestrian accident with the victim crawling to the final resting point and succumbing to his injuries.

I have to clean my pocket knife.
Circumstantial evidence. It'll never hold up in court. [:'(]

However apt Ben Kenobi's description of THE THREAD!!! was, I did the same thing with my son. He just turned 12, but about a year ago, we watched the original 3 episodes. Somehow, we have yet to get around to watching the 3 prequels. [:D]

I figure that 12 - 18 months from now, the job market will be very robust again.

----Edit-----

Upon further reflection, I have to restate my question.

Can anyone recommend a decent (operational) history of the Royal Navy in the Age of Sail and prior?
