The John Wayne load screen?

Post by m10bob »

Hi guys.....A few years ago I located a really neat still taken during the filming of They Were Expendable, and Cobra Aus was able to convert it into a nice load screen..

That was 2 computers ago and I no longer have that file.

Does anybody else still have it, and would you be willing to re-share it?..

FYI, Cobra Aus has not been in the forums since 11/07 and he last told me he was taking time off for his grand-kids.He was born in '43 (IIRC)..
I miss our friend from Geelong.

This is the pic, if anybody can convert it to a loading screen.

(Cobra's version was tinted kinda brownish, like parchment??)

That scene is from the John Wayne film "They were Expendable" (1945) and the brown tint is called Sepia which is supported by most graphics editors as a special effect.

Unfortunately the picture you supplied is a JPG and looks terrible when blown up to the size needed for the load screen. Does anyone have a better/larger original out there??? (Preferably a lossless format such as BMP or PNG though a GIF would also be OK as this is a black and white picture). I looked and couldn't find one.

Cheers,
Reg.

Hi M10bob,

Thinking about it, it will be unlikely that you will find any pics bigger than 640x480 (NTSC video capture) so I had a go to make you up a load screen (after smoothing out the jpg artifacts a bit).

There are three alternatives below. See what you think....

Just unzip and copy into your art folder.
(It would probably be a good idea to save or rename the existing "OpenLoadScreen_1024.bmp" file first!!)

Just a thought - you could use the original size pic as the center of a collage, or just overlaid on the center of the current loading screen (maybe tilted a bit).
