Here’s a beta taste of what Babes Medium will look like. Here’s what MO has done so far. It is only for the US and Japan. The rest of the Allies will follow, but not today. Only two files, wpd029 and wpl029. Just drop them into a Babes scenario and renumber.

A lot of AI cheats that were put in the TO&Es ( Eng units with ‘shadow’ AvSup, BFs with ‘shadow’ NavSup and AvSup, general units with ‘shadow’ Sup) are all gone. We don’t like cheats.

Because this is anticipated as an AI compatible scenario, the main OOB was not modified. The components of the OOB, however, were heavily modified.

Devices: way big modified to conform squad units to the original LC/firepower paradigm – goes back to the original squad definitions. Eng squads modified in accord with code allowances with respect to size, assault capability, fort reduction capability, and build capability. In Da Zygotes (DBBB) these will be more sharply delineated.

LCUs: Both US and Japanese Division/Regt size units are restructured to conform to the original relative Assault Value, the original relative Firepower value, and the original relative Load Cost value.

Eng: Highly nerfed for Japan, and somewhat nerfed for the US. Scenario contemplates a higher degree of difficulty for building stuff. Many Japanese so-called Eng Squads are worthless and comprise Korean and Chinese laborers, for the most part.

AvSup: Highly nerfed for Japan, and somewhat nerfed for the US, both in terns of number of units, and available AvSup per unit. These need to be examined at the BF/Bn/Coy level.

NavSup: Nerfed for Japan and expanded somewhat for the US, but the number of units on both sides are reduced and need to be examined at the Bn/BF level.

So some of you have your head screwed on right, try it out. MO is a very patient and painstaking individual so if there's a blivet, he'll try to dial it in.

JWE -

I extracted the two files into the AE SCN folder and overwrote. Then selected SCN 27 - Dec 7th start. Am I on track for a proper installation?

Looking over the Jap / USA units - appears to be lots of changes from Da Babes Lite 003 (I began to salivate immedialtely...!); I think I did it right but thought I should ask.

You would have to rename them wpd027 and wpl027 in that case. Maybe a good idea to load scen 27, do a 'save as' as scen 29 and then drop in the wpd and wpl029 files. Either way.

Don't forget, this is just a beta preview. Still needs lots more work to get it fully good to go.

Thank you for your prompt assistance - I will get on it!

Mac

EDIT -

JWE, Scn 26 is the one I wanted, not a Dec 8th start with Scn 27. Just realized I misspoke. Will load Scn 26, then save as Scn 29, then drop in the two files into the AE Scn Folder. Don't mean to make this a pain due to my mistake. Thank You for your help.

I was wondering the same but didn't want to mention it to avoid the "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" aggravation to those modders (or would that be muthers on this Mother's day).

Will the latest Patch 3 Hot fix 1102aa screw up anything with the Da Babes lite or medium if applied?

As far as I have experienced with Da Babes Lite, no. I patched and then opened a saved game, and things seem to be working fine.

Like Kitakami says, shouldn't hurt a thing. If it works for the official scenarios, it will work for DaBabes.

BabesMed is poking along. Boat racing season is here with a vengence and it does seem to intrude on other things from time to time. [;)]

My goodness gracious. Everybody is making mods and that's cool. Given all that effort, it just doesn't make sense to have yet another mod competing for players. Ok, we'll continue to update BabesLite, for whoever cares.

BabesMed and BigBabes will be available for the big boys - you know who you are -but will not be available on these boards. Think that's the best way to approach this. Lots of good mods being done and don't want to compete.

The Da Babes (lite/medium/Biggie) seems to be the basis for some of the other mods. I think that people are waiting in the wings for your new innovations and updates to see what they can scrounge from your and Don's ideas for themselves. IMHO it is the breeding ground of good things and ideas yet to come and we all may benefit.

I totally agree with brother buck and a bit disappointed on how it was phrased. Are not all of us worth tasting for what has been posted on these forums? Either way my two cents.

I think he just meant he's trying to keep the whole thing low enough profile that nobody pops their cork.

Kinda disappointed myself here as I was really interested in seeing what you guys had come up with as far as Nav Support. I view a lot of this modding stuff as a collaborative effort. I have to disagree with you as to the need for your mod. A lot of the mods I have seen are enhancement/alternative history mods. Treespiders mod is one that does not fit that category and he included Da Babes Lite in his. The mod I am working on was planned to be based on Da Babes Medium because of the Nav Support stuff. My thinking was that I was heding that way myself and there was no point duplicating the effort.

Many of the highly mods in WiTP were largely collaborative efforts even if they had one or two people at the forefront (CHS, RHS, BigB). Of course there was NikMod and Empires Ablaze too.

Was hoping that the stuff you were working on would be incorporated into the larger modding community as the "parent" mod for others. Maybe a tree version would be a better way to put it

Trust me I understand and can appreciate that (with an exclamation point). I am only saying what it sounds like on these forums. The synergy (not the talent) now is far less than it was a while ago with WitP. Not that I am saying that we need to come around the campfire and sing songs. But for myself, the Reluctant Admiral posts (not that I had any contribution with that project) and its formation to seeing how they worked together got me back interested in these forums again. That is just my opionion and I am not trying to start any fires, maybe some contemplation. And of course that is only my humble opion and of course your mileage may vary.

Ah ... poor chioce of words. Poeple on this forum 'are' the big boys. We have just been getting so many pms and emails saying do this and do that and don't do this .. from the main forum .. uh .. people. Even getting some rants about why don't we fix all the broken stuff (ladies choice as to what's broken) before we make micromanagement worse. So low profile is a good idea.

Not to worry, you all will get everything.

Can't help but wonder how many of those "people" have actually opened the Editor up and seen what can really be changed. The deeper I get into this, the more hesitant I am to change things for fear of truly borking the game. The DP gun discussion has highlighted the fact that it sometimes very difficult to "fix" one thing without breaking everything else.

I am sure it will all wash out in the end. Your work is certainly appreciated and I was only giving my own two cents. Speaking of which time to get back to some more AE number crunching.

Well I have but do hold a lot of trust for the developers of this mod. While I tweak away in my private playground my base is overwhelmingly Da Babes lite and will graduate to the Da medium when the parts are put together.
