Maybe you have moved your panzers a bit too far forward, but I don't see any real danger ahead of you.
The Crimean seems to be sealed, Lennigrad might be a harder nut to crack, can't really tell from your screen shot.
But it is now May 4-5 months of perfect Blitzkrieg weather. Not much in front of Moscow.
You've even gotten a few bridges over the main rivers.
How many corps, Armies have you got involved in this Operation Barbarossa? Also I see so many SS units.

June 6th 1940:
The Blitzkrieg rolls on. German Panzers roll through Mozhaisk, Gomel, Kursk, Kharkov, Rostov, Sevastopol. The SU army is still in full retreat in the South and barely manages to build a front. We hope to capture large parts of the Southern SU in 1940.
In Leningrad the war has turned into more of a stalemate as we need to wait for reinforcements. We are also getting close to Moscow and have reached Moscow fortifications.
The West is doing some kind of limited counterattack by landing small units in France, Denmark and Hamburg. We manage to wipe out most of these except a unit in the Danish straits. Lets see if the West mounts a counteroffensive.

RE: World at War ver. T Axis AAR
Hi British Exil,
sorry but forgot to do a real count of the units.
Basically what I have is 2 "Armygroups" in the South (AG A and AG C) both with very high quality troops up to the maximum. Then there is Armygroup F in the Center (Kiev) with the same amount of troops but less quality and mostly infantry. Armygroup E and B are leading the drive to Moscow. Armygroup E is mostly MechInf and Armygroup B has some elite tanks. The newly formed Armygroup G is building up to slowly assail Leningrad.
All armygroups have about 65-70 staff and are fully utilized with the exception of Armygroup C which is about 100 staff.
The mostly SS units come from Munich building the core tank units and then adding some expendable normal infantry on top. And I really conserved units from turn 1.
Best regards

So true to Heinz Guderian "Nicht kleckern Klotzen!"
Wow you are really steamrolling through the steppes and tundra. Have you encountered any real resistance? Or spotted any real threat to your units?
Following both AAR's but will not compromise anything.

July 3rd:
Attack continues but as we are now meeting the SU strongholds the speed is reduced.
We are sieging Moscow and advancing in the South.
The Western Allies have made an amphibious landing in Antwerp. Will need to see how strong this becomes.

Our losses are increasing as we are beginning to hit fortified position from the SU. We mourn the first loss of 2 medium tanks.
However we also continue to inflict heavy losses on the SU. (Edit: This time this shows total losses, including losses in our battles against the West. The SU does not really have Carrier Air...Forgot to take the screenshot in time).

RE: World at War ver. T Axis AAR
Hi
I havent exactly been as active as i wanted in this AAR. But i figure at least someone (Lunaticus!!) might be wondering what is happening in Asia.
In june 1941 Japan finally was provoked to assault China. Hanoi fell in the first month and chinese losses were severe (something like 80 infantry). I lost 20-30 infantry and 2 carrier airplanes.
In the Chinese round i lost 26-27 infantry to 26 infantry. Also suddenly a lot of partisans appeared (in Taipan for example). I dont understand why since i had garrisoned all chinese cities (or so i thought). Maybe someone can enlighten me on which cities i have missed.
During the July turn my advance continued on a broad front. I think the chinese generals have made a mistake in spreading too thin to try and protect everything. My main goal is the chinese production city in the north and getting a good short frontline.
Before i have produced a couple of flak, some Lvl II Destroyers, a light tank and some armoured cars. I Created a second Engineer corps in Hanoi and an artillery corps in the north. Also i am starting to upgrade my heavy infantry to lvl II.
This round i produce
80 or so rifles
26 SMG
16 MGs
16 staff
4 Mortars
1 Light Tank
1 Artillery
1 Armored Car
5 horses
2 PP
5-6K supply.
Here is a screenshot of central China. Please point out which cities i havent garrisoned. Do i for example need to garrison Hainan? Also during july it said that round 1 had passed and i needed to play the blitz card by round six. Does that mean that i can play it on round 6 or do i have to have it played by then?

re: the Chinese partisans - when I was playing version S a few months ago I did notice the absurd amount of partisans. I also lost Tapain to them. I found that keeping at least 25PP in the cities was enough to prevent the partisans from instantly overcoming the garrison between turns. Next time I play Japan I'll certainly build up more anti-partisan units to counter this.
I was also able to play the pacific blitz card on turn 6 (not before) without negative consequence.

aye the game considers those islands as part of China so if you don't garrison them they will trigger partisans not only on the islands but on mainland china as well.

RE: World at War ver. T Axis AAR
August 1st 1940:
We are continuing our push East. We are slowly moving forward against Leningrad. Also we are continuing to siege Moscow but our advance there is slowed. We advance on the Sourhtern fron though. We are pushing very hard against Saratov in order to split off the South of the enemy. Also we are moving slowly against Stalingrad. Against the Southern SU oilfields we continue our Blitz and capture Maikop. We hope to capture Grozny next turn.
Our main weapon point of attack now is to split the SU into as many parts as possible in order to make the coordination difficult for the enemy. We land some paratroopers in a bid to also split of Leningrad.
Three turns left to take as much of the SU as possible.
The West land some troops near Hamburg and in Denmark. We manage to throw off most of these though. The only point we are a bit worried is the Allied air campaign though which is taking a heavy toll.
In Africa we do more WWI like warfare with long range artillery shelling. Boring but this front does not have a high priority for us....

As to losses: We lost 4 Light Tank II which we will miss dearly. The balance of losses is still much in our favour however. The SU gets hard hit by our artillery and divebombers.

RE: World at War ver. T Axis AAR
August 1941
This was a discusting and bloody month in China.
On Chinas round i lost 57 infantry to 56 kills.
On this round several disasters. First Sian Flak kills 3 divebombers and one fighter. From a 2 hex distance. nice.
Then i make several failed assaults in the north ending in a failed assault on Sian where i loose 1 armoured car and 1 light tank. One good thing is that i start shelling Sian with artillery. City is down to 1300/2000 points (as far as i can tell).
I retake Taipan and make some advance in the center.
The final tally is something like
Chinese losses
100 infantry (around 60+ rifleII).
1 flak
Japanese losses
110 infantry¨
1 light tank
1 armored car
3 divebombers
1 fighter
My one hope is that China hardly can stand this kind of losses for any period.

I dont see any point in having a hard time in China. Basicly my point of wiev is to take 2 cities wich must be taken As Japan alredy did and then hold this line.
I belive that for Japan is much more important to gain production centers from Filipini area. Or even India if passible.
Coments please. Thanks
And keep this AAR going. It is wery good to learn things for the newbie like me.

RE: World at War ver. T Axis AAR
From my side I agree that it should be sufficient to subdue China to a satisfactory level and then move on to other fronts. I also recommend for Japan to do a Pearl Harbour attack and take as much supply from the West as possible.
On the other hand I understand that in previous WaW versions it was easily possible to completely take out China using Level bombers and artillery. So this is very tempting as then Japan can withdraw large parts of their army. But from my experience China in this version is a much tougher opponent on the defense...

August 29th 1940:
After a heavy artillery barrage German troops capture Moscow. The German flag is hissed on the Kremlin. Lets hope it stays there over the winter. It seems however that the Russian army around Moscow is severely beaten, we even managed to have some tanks attack Stavka. We hope to continue our advance up to Kazan.
Leningrad is the best defended area of the enemy. However it is now separate from the rest of the SU and we hope to starve the large army there. Finnish troops are continually shelling Leningrad.
In the South the enemy continues to hold out in Stalingrad where we are advancing only slowly. However as we broke through in Saratov the South SU is also split off. We were stopped short of Grozny but believe the enemy to be very short on units there.
As discussed in another post we now need to consolidate our gain and then survive the winter.

It seems like the ability of the SU to continue the war is rapidly decreasing. German troops entered Gorki and Stalingrad with only light losses.
Also we finally overran and eliminated Stavka as well as the Kiev Military HQ which was defending Grozny. If the SU is lucky they might keep Kazan next turn before the winter, lets see.
We are happy with our success this year. Not sure if the SU will be able to come back from this....

Vast area of SU captured... but how will you manage to supply your troops when winter and partisans kick in... we will see soon enough [:)].
IMO in previous version (believe 3T), it is impossible for SU to win scenario... I believe that SU wins when captures Berlin (victory condition) and that is not an option if Barbarossa is well executed... All what SU can do is hold on long enough for WA to win...
Like in this scenario, SU production is not enough to be a serious threat for Axis forces... Altough Tom play as SU and he is not to be underestimated...[;)] Will winter and partisans save SU?
Interesting AAR, keep it up![&o]
