Lockup during Interception

Post by LarryP »

Gold locked up when the timer came up for Interception during the Tannenberg scenario. As you can see in the picture, I was able to select all three of the radio buttons. It locked when I had only Half Forces selected. I was able to select the other two radio buttons after it froze. Locking up was a problem I had every time I played the original version. I'm biting my tongue (fingers doing my talking actually) right now.

Does it happen regularly on your PC for every interception? [&:]

This was the first Interception I had. I clicked the check mark and after that the main menu would not come up, the Interception would not close, so I used the Task Manager to close the game after I captured the picture above.

I tested right now with no freeze (indeed I never had freezes in Interception). Can you send me some info about your PC by PM?

Also, if you try again, do you have freezes regularly?

By the way, I played Tannenberg scenario on the side of Germans and the best result I got is a draw! Never done so bad with old version... [:D]

I can post my specs here:

Dell XPS 600
3.6 ghz multithread single core
NVIDIA 8800 gts
Creative x-fi xtreme audio card
2 gig ram
XP Pro SP3

No programs running in the background. If you want a dxdiag file I can post that too.

I am using my laptop and I will try it on that now. My desktop which it froze on, I will try again tomorrow morning first thing early.

So you built the game and got a draw? Shame on you, or else the game is actually pretty smart! [;)]

I try now on a laptop quite similar to yours, same brand, same RAM, same CPU, same Win XP SP3, even though I remember I never had freezes even on this laptop.

I tested the GC on the laptop, no freeze. I can do several interceptions, I can always select any interception option and i see the timer working fine. [&:]

Hi Larry,

Could you post a DxDiag for us please from the system that's having the freeze?

Also, have you tried turning off all background programs and processes to see if something else is "stepping on" the game and causing it to freeze?

Regards,

- Erik

Dxdiag included.

I don't ever run background programs when I'm not doing beta testing. I even turn off most of the firewall and anti virus. I had misc lockups with the original WW1 game which is why I was not surprised when this happened, although annoyed. Since I played the original last year, I have installed a fresh copy of XP and my system is very bare in comparison.

OK. I tested this with my laptop and it did not lock up. However, it did do some other things that were weird. The Matrix game menu showed through the main menu and I had no mouse. So I used Task manager to exit, and went back in and it ran fine. Weird. My laptop is 100% different than my desktop which is where the original lockup happened.

I seldom get freezes on either PC. I run many kinds of games and numerous in count.

This morning I ran Tannenberg again on my desktop and it ran fine?! Here is the outcome of Tannenberg with me as Germans:

Glad to hear it worked this morning. The original World War One did have such issues, but I have to say that after the updates it was fine for us and World War One Gold was also fine in our testing. There may well be a rare and somewhat random issue that was missed though.

Your sound drivers on your system are from 2005, that's the only issue I saw. I would really recommend updating those, but everything else looks fine.

I have installed the latest sound drivers a few times and they render the audio useless. I've had issues with those updates.

As suggested on other threads, please let's try with UAC filter off.

I keep doing tests on my side, of course.

Thanks,
Calvinus.

UAC filter has been off since I bought this laptop, a year ago. Thanks though! [&o]

Well, important question: does the freeze occur after you click the yes/no intercept button???

That's when it freezes, yes, after I click the check mark button.

Ok, thanks. The betas are now testing a patch proposal. We will start soon the usual Public Beta Patching session on AgeOD official forum. You will be welcome, of course.
