Distant Worlds CD\DVD Question

Hello,
I am considering buying the game, but would like the answer to a question about the CD\DVD version of the game.

If I buy the Physical Media version (CD\DVD) of the game will I receive version 1.0?

If so, will the physical media version ever be updated to the latest version of the game?

Also, if I bought the CD\DVD version would I still need a code to install, or get updates?
