I must say that I liked your take on house rules enough that I have just began a PBEM using those with the addition of a couple of additional rules added. I think these rules get game play closer to reality as they address realistic planning timetables and also national focus.

Hello Seydlitz,
I am honored that you would take borrowed my own humble H.R. I would like to know more about these couple of additional rules that you have added to your own play, and of course, could be very interesenting to know if you will work in an AAR !... I would like to follow closely. I am very sure that many H.R. are absolutely neccesary for an realistic and historical environment. More than a play, WITP AE would be a simulation, and for it, these H.R. would be neccesary because engine would not be enough for politicals or others circumstances in early 40s in the Pacific theatre.

Thanks a lot for your comment, you are wellcomed
Best of wishes, and best of lucks in your future game.

Good Day Fletcher,

since you asked, here are the additional home rules that we added to our game:

-The AVG can not be transferred out of China or Burma. In other words no transfer to Singapore or the DEI for use there.
2.-Philippine based air units may not receive replacement aircraft other than by disbanding other Philippine based air units into those units.
3.-Philippine based air units may not be disbanded or withdrawn in a manner that would result in the transfer of aircraft or the pilots back into the aircraft or pilot pools. If the unit is withdrawn, the allied player must answer “no” to the reform unit in x days question.
4.-Manila is an open city. During the initial Japanese conquest, MacArthur declared Manila to be an open city. As such, the allies may not build additional fortifications there and must retreat from the hex rather than fighting battles for it when the Japanese reach the city. The Japanese player may not use this to his advantage by trying gamey tactics (like paradrop, etc) to take the city early. He can only take the city as part of a general advance from the north, south, or east. After Japan has conquered all of Luzon, all bets are off and Manila is no longer an open city.
5.-The U.S. only may run sub transport missions into Bataan only carrying supplies and evacuating units only after allied forces have retreated into Bataan or to resupply/evacuate other isolated or cut off units. There is no restriction on using surface or air transport at any time to move supplies or troops in our out.

modified rules:
2. - The territory of Thailand shall not be violated in any way by the U.S. ground forces. U.S. air and naval forces are free to operate over Thailand without restriction. British are exempt from this rule.
(The U.S. did bomb Thailand. One of the first B-29 missions was against Bangkok.)

The submarines allowed to carry marine raiders should also include Nautilus and Seawolf.

Thank very much, Seydlitz. Greats!!

I will must check about AVG, because I could be sure that one Sqdrn from American Volunteer Group fought at Singapore, but after read your post I will must check for a second time, I will post about when I´ll get references :)
Under your permission I will borrow your added H.R. to add in my own "AE Historical Game Project" (I should discuss them with Jonathan -Cantona2-, but I am pretty sure that he will not have any problem with that.)
Thanks a lot for posting and add all these H.R., are very interesting (you are right about XX B.C. mission, I got reports about Mission number 18 with 55 planes at nov.1944 with 1 plane lost from 40th Bomber Group).

Best of wishes

Glad to hear that you like the additional rules.

The AVG deployed a squadron to defend Rangoon. That was where they fought alongside the Brits until that city fell. They never went to Singapore.

I must now find a new opponent as my opponent emailed back after I did my turn 2 plots to say that he can not continue. I hate it when an opponenet asks for a game and then quits after you put the time into it. This opponent had two previous quits that he said was due to health at the time so that may be the same issue this time.

I am certain that I will find another. In the meantime I will enjoy your excellent AAR.

Thanks a lot for your comment !... I wish you the best of luck to get a realiable opponent to play your game. This is a monster game that needs compromise for a long time for both players. Could be good idea to get references in the matrix about any player that will to play with you (i.e. looking for post and AARs from his previous games).

I´ll be honored with your visits and comments.

I knew about AVG Sqdrn fighting over Rangoon skies, and certainly I can not get any report about Singapore, I remember to read about but could be that I confuse Rangoon with Singapore (both under British rule). However I told with Cantona2 (Jonathan) yesterday and both are agree to add all these new H.R. that you have comment us.

Have a nice day,
Best of wishes
