64 bit Windows 7 Dell

Post by zed »

Neither WITP or WITP AE will run correctly. When I press the Scenario Selection Button nothing happens. I do not know if it is the video card DUAL 512MB ATI Radeon HD 4550 (2 cards 2 DP & 2 DVI) or the operating system.

It runs fine for me on a MacBook Pro running 64 bit Windows 7. I did have to tell it to run the program in Windows XP SP3 emulation.

I am running it on a HP desktop PC with 64 bit win 7. Runs very well except the game will not recognize the command line switches to switch to widescreen, etc. I think I am also running in XP SP3 emulation possibly. Also, witpstaff and witp tracker do not work as they are 32 bit applications and will not function with the 64 bit op system.

They work fine for me, but I have installed both 32- and 64-bit versions of Java and provided a full path to the version to be run. This goes in the bat file:

C:\"Program Files (x86)"\Java\jre6\bin\java -Xms384m -Xmx512m -jar "WitPTracker.jar"
pause

I tried running it in an VM with XP SP3 but it will not display in full screen.  I have a laptop with xp 64 and it works fine.  I do not get it.  Do not know which way to turn.  Maybe I will use a docking station with the laptop and hook the monitor to it.  Should I continue trying to get it to run under Windows 7 64 or call it quits?

I haven't tried it in full screen--I find I prefer to have access to the utilities and other Windows 7 programs when I'm running it.

I'm running both WITP and AE on DELL/Alienware 64 bit Windows 7 ... no issues ...

I believe your native resolution is the problem here ...
Wide Screen Support
New in the third official update:
-px -py
To have any effect x must be greater than 1024 and y must be greater than 768. If values less
than or equal to px=1024 and py=768 are used the original values of 1024 and 768 will be
substituted.
Spanning mode is not supported and user should ensure that both the video adapter and monitor
support the px and py values.

Thanks,

I had tried most everything including waving a dead chicken over the micro and was unable to get WitpTracker to load new turns until I saw your post.
