Old Version "Sweet Spot" dilema.

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

Old Version "Sweet Spot" dilema.

Post by tbsfan »

I recall being totally frustated by a so called "Sweet Spot" in the old version that I gave up on it.

I think it involved selecting and draging one unit to another and if you didn't click on the

sweet spot of the graphic [:@][8|] You were going nowhere.

Is Gold still like this?

For this point I added a fix, but you can use the Army Management window that helps a lot too.

I still get damn annoyed during battles trying to get the counter to fit in the front line.

1) wait the AI has deployed its forces (during battle);
2) drop units over the appropriate spaces.

Technically, it's still there in Gold but the Army Management Screen is a way around it.

I think the biggest problem with the sweet spot is that the mouse cursor's 'pointer' finger disappears when you're dragging something, so it's difficult to see exactly where the + is with that big fist-without-a-pointy. [:D]

I have the same issue at times w/ drag and drop. I also select a unit and click on the front line which seems to work better for me.

I do wait for my turn. I also try and fit it perfectly and it doesn't take. I find about 2 pixels upwards of the border works fine.....hehehe...I have to be that precise. Surely it wouldn't be to difficult for the unit to just snap into place as long as its somehwere in the front line or rear or deployment as thats the same aswell.

Well, not to complain, but movement and combat can be very frustrating. Sometimes you click on a unit to move it, then have to click several more times to get the movement shadow to appear. In combat, what some of the other posters say is true. I sometimes have to try and drag a unit several times. There's an error message on the main screen, but it can't be read because the combat screen obscures it. This is the most annoying part of the game, IMO.

Th error message says it can't be moved because it may have been shakenn in a previous battle....this has never been the case yet. It will say that but when you hit the right spot it drops in.

I'm finding the exact same problems. A lot of the time you don't know if you are actually doing something that's against the rules, or the interface just won't let you drop the unit, etc. In a game as complex as this, we don't need this problem. Still like the game, though!
