1.0.4.9 Unhandled exception when opening diplomacy screen

Hi, I am having a strange problem.

At some point during my last game, the diplomacy screen stopped working. It hasn't resumed working for any new games, so I don't know what to do. This is the exception text:

System.MethodAccessException: DistantWorlds.Types.Empire.RemoveDefeatedEmpireRelations()

Searching for that text yielded nothing, so it seems nobody else has had this problem. I am using the new patch on top of the beta patch, should I reinstall everything from scratch?

Hi, If your diplomacy screen doesn't work for new game it sounds like something broke, or didn't install correctly.  Yes if it was me I would definitely try a reinstall. Make sure you don't have any other programs running when installing, that sometimes messing things up.

I had that exception also. It was happening to me at the same time that right clicking an uncolonized planet and queing a colony hsip woudl give me same error. I reinstalled and all was well.

I reinstalled after I posted that message and the problem persisted. Since then I've kinda got used to it and have just been playing without that screen. It still lets me perform diplomacy, I just have to wait until the other race speaks to me first. It's just annoying, more than gamestopping.

But maybe I'll try reinstalling all over again. Should I clear the registry or anything? I deleted the profile last time, but it didn't seem to help.

I actually installed another copy of the game, so I can copy the art assets over. I still have the buggy one on my HD, I should delete it.

An OS reinstall fixed this. Very strange, and I hope it doesn't happen frequently, as reinstalling my OS every time this craps out isn't going to be fun.

Stranger still, I missed that post after having searched for anything like it... And posted about it after you. I found the cause, though : I manually finished the uninstall before reinstalling, by deleting the faulty dlls in the game directory that did not uninstall properly for some reason, and were probably not overwritten by the reinstall. I believe it happened when I uninstalled an updated game or something like that. Too bad you reinstalled your entire OS for this...
