Serial number issue, no response from Matrix

Post by Sarkus »

Hopefully someone here has some ideas since Matrix has yet to respond to my email request for help.

I purchased Forge of Freedom not long after it was released a few years back, choosing the digital option. The game downloaded, installed, and ran just fine. A few years back I purchased a new computer and copied over the FoF files, among other things, and as far as I can recall, everything worked fine. But it's been some time since I last played the game.

Fast forward to the other day and I tried to launch the game. Now I get this error message:
There is an error with your serial number as entered. Please contact support@matrixgames.com for assistance.

I have verified that the serial number register on Matrix games site is the same one in my records and is also the same as what is saved within the FoF files under the serialreg notebook file.

So what's going on?

Did you copy the game files to the new computer, or re-install to the new one?

Typical error message for Vista/Win7. Start setup.exe in admin mode and your serial will work again.

I ended up reinstalling from scratch and it looks like everthing is now working.

Thanks for the suggestions.
