Ore Extractor on Spaceports

Post by Tyranicus »

Can spaceports use Ore Extractors to mine resourses from planets or do they automatically collect the resourses.

You need the right module.

Gas mining is for gas planets
luxury goods mining is for luxury goods
and then the regular mining  module.

Ow and they automaticly collect the resources.

Spaceports do not gather resources from planets. Once you colonize a planet, your inhabitants automatically mine everything available on the planet. If you colonized a planet and did not build a space port, the only thing you would do is slow down the growth of the colony (because of the hospital/recreation facilities on the spaceport) and slow down the dissemination of resources because then only one ship at a time can dock at a planet to take off mined resources and drop off resources/luxuries from other planets.

they only allow 2 ships at a time to dock, not 1 at a time.
but other then that all true.

To add to what has already been posted:

I create a Small Spaceport I call and outpost. I downsize it to lonely 4 docking bays, half or less of every component I can take away from the original Small Spaceport design. Keep the Med, Rec and Trade components. Save the design as a different name, because you'll want the normal Small Spaceport for any colonies that start to have traffic jams.

Thanks, I want to do a similar thing too.

Maybe a dumb question, why two?

Don't use a space port. If u use a space station it doesn't even need component factories! It becomes extra tiny :)

Blind Sniper, I guess there is only a small amount of space for starships to land, heh. I thought it was 1 but apparently its 2 ships at a time for just a planet with no spaceport. Its just a way for them to incentivize you to build a spaceport which really is beneficial with extra docking, manufacturing, rec/med/trade modules.

frankly i just build a full small space port... its armed, its shielded, it can build, it even has research...

heck, I even ADD to it an extreme long range sensor... and I build one of those SSP on each and every planet I own (strategic planets get medium or large space ports).

Democracy (and later way of ancients) + morale boosts from development / medical / recreational modules + managing morale properly + acquiring all super resources with a vengence (korbebian spice, loros fruit, and zentebia fluid) means I can easily afford it. And it makes it difficult for enemies to attack my planets.

It makes sense, thanks.

Taltamir, I, too, build a full small spaceport on every single colony except for highly strategic/super-resource planets which get either a large or medium.

oh, PS... in addition to the bonus from recreation and medical centers... there is a bonus to planetary morale from development that you get from ANY orbital constructions (space ports, defensive bases, etc) based on their value. So a bigger port = more morale... it also costs more, but it acts as a better buffer against negative morale... such as you can drop taxes and the orbital construction + low taxes would counteract low reputation, war with their race, and war weariness even for a democracy.
