Bombur has it. He has send turn for China to me, instead of doing it himself and sending turn to Japan. Have told him about the mistake, but dont know whether he has got it right. So next player in the line following on Bombor might request to sent the turn, please.

I am off til sunday afternoon.

Jan 1941 turn sent.

Assualted Cairo but it held.  It is cut off and knocked out but the HQ there might have some supple stockpiled.  Also declared war on Turkey and captured the straits.  Up North, I para trooped into Ireland.  Want to hold to deny a potential future base.

Jan 41

Axis lost 37 rifles on their assaults on Cairo, while British losses stayed below 10 rifles. Previous air attacks of German and Italien air groups remained without remarkable result. But Cairo is down to 400 production points now. Replacements will be less than in previous turns. Fortunately all depots are filled and there is enough supply to stand a long siege.

Kuwait was attacked by 333rd corps, coming from Bagdad. The attack failed. British-Indian bomb raids reduced the attackers to 6 rifles.

Small naval battles in Med Sea near Tobruk and north of Scotland. In Med Sea the Italien sub managed to escape several times, while in combat in Atlantic the German sub was sunk.

Feb Turn Sent.

My advance to Kuwait was half hearted and repulsed.  I also do not want to divert enough resources to capture Cairo.  I will beseige it for now.  The Allies moved a fleet into the Eastern Med.  It is a long way from it's supply bases and I think it must head West soon.

My campaign against Turkey is continuing.  I captured Sinope on the Northern Coast.  My southern army is relaxing in the summer weather zone in Romania (no sense in burning supply).  I have lots of troops embarked in transports in the Baltic to also reduce supply needs.

Mar Turn Sent

Still winter so attack on SU will be delayed until April or May depending on the readiness of my Northern army.  The southern army moved to the border.  Otherwise it was generally quite.  I knocked out Cairo again and did some target practice against Turkey.

Apr 1941 turn sent

I went ahead and attack the SU even though my Northern army was not completely ready.  My main strength is coming out of Romania and was largely unopposed.  I did a paradrop from Turkey to capture the fortification north of Sevastopol.  I also did a landing at Batumi to threaten the Soviet supply fields.  I used my transports from the UK invasion to land troops along the Baltic.

West Apr41

Cairo still holding. In Med Sea several sea battles between Italien subs and western destroyers and subs. German subs try to disturb supply line from Canada to Gibraltar. During a battle near the Azores the western navy lost three destroyers. The Germans got good commanders that manage to fight well.

Japanese subs on recon mission at Philipines. They will find the area well garrisoned.

Rufus

at the first opportunity start counter attacking those weak units around Cairo and drive them back so the enemy doesn't get such a big concentric attack bonus on you.

if you can do that it will help Cairo to hang on.

Yes, good point. Concentric attack bonus is something I often forget [;)] (except in naval combat where enemy units easily escape)

But, ... I have just sufficent units to defend. A counterattack is an invitation of capturing Cairo after I have wasted my units in an attack on seige units that are already dug in. So, could you send some of 101st or marines ande land in rear area of Axis, please? [:'(]

May 1941 Turn sent

Still beseiging Cairo.  Every turn, I knock production off line.  Not in a hurry to assault or bring troops to the area.

In Russia, I built an HQ in the Caucausas' and am directing reinforcements directly to the theater.  I capture Grozny and cut off the 2 Baku production sites.  I landed troops at Kerch and the successfully invaded Rostov.  I also assaulted and captured Sevastopol.  My main army captured Dneipretovsk and approached Kiev and Kharkov.

In the North, I captured the Baltic coast and took the first fortification south of Leningrad.  My central group captured Minsk but is otherwise weak.

Congrats, Tweber.

Sounds like a decisive campaign of Axis in the east.

While I think it was a mistake not to garrison the ports in the Black Sea, I have the feeling that the Soviet Union is quite weak after playing both sides in this version.

yes explorer is thinking about letting the SU wake up 1 turn earlier to see if that helps

I am not sure that would help as a wake up in the winter burns a ton of supply.  I would suggest setting the wake up: (1) when Paris falls, (2) when the axis aligns the minors and maybe making this cost less.

you know the idea of if axis aligns the minors early waking up Russia is an excellent idea in my opinion. That would make a axis player think seriously about doing it and it fits into an historical idea that if they did join early it would bother Russia enough to take notice.

yes this idea definitely has merits. I like it.

June 1941 Turn sent.

Captured Baku, Maikop, Kiev and Kharkov.  Center group advanced to Smolensk.  No Soviets in sight.  Leningrad isolated.  With Black Sea secure, Italian fleet moving to Mid East for ops in Indian Ocean.  I am 20 points short of the victory level I need to hold for 18 rounds.   Biggest challenge is supply.  My AG South consumed 10k in supply and my entire force consumed over 30k in supply in fair weather.  I need to gear back production.

here are the most recent changes guys from Explorer2

Just finished version U1.
Here's the changes:

Removed GE Pressures Axis Action Card (Event 4, lines 62, 64)
. . . . . This card made it far too easy to conquer Balkans & to launch too quick attack on SU southern front
Fixed typo error for increased number of trains starting in Stavka. Now extra 7 trains from original.
Add Fortifications outside Omsk
Created starting SU HQs in Sevastopol and Stalingrad.
Lowered GE starting PP by 50, added 30 to SU starting PP
Restored SU starting staff to pre-T levels, added extra 10 staff, 5 extra horses to Stavka.
Restored SU winter supply bonus (Event 108, line 12, Event 53, line 14)
Restored SU auto wakes up January 1941 Event 63, line 55)
Restored SU winter partisan level (Event 112, line 36)
Added 15 % production bonus for Omsk (Event 48)

Increased coastal defenses of USA cities (helpful to defend vs. subs when new ships are built)

Version U2 now available.
One change only.
Decreased Flak Immobile Combat vs. Air by 20% (hit points unaltered).

Note: First time I uploaded it (7:45 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time 5/30/2010) there was an error in it (event 132 no end check). Fixed and re-uploaded at 8:15 a.m. If you get an error message when you load the game, you're using the incorrect version.
