1.0.4.9 Right click ship list

Post by Yarasala »

I just found out that when right clicking on a ship in the main view while nothing is selected (the panel in the lower left is grey) a list with 43 of my military ships appears. If I select a ship from this list it will be shown in the lower left panel.
The problem is, I cannot really use this function because it's only a part of all of my military ships that follows no order I can recognize ...
Perhaps that is only an early game help or whatever. If one could restrain the list to show only the ships of the type of ship right-clicked at it would be of use much longer, even unsorted.

the order is "distance from location at which you clicked"
the ships that show up are all IDLE ships who are currently sitting in place doing absolutely nothing.

It is one of the most useful features in the game :)

Want to colonize a planet? right click near it and get a list of all idle ships sorted from closest to furthest away.. .select the closest colonizer and order it to colonize.

want to destroy a pirate base? select the closest capital ship and order it to attack.

want to explore a system? select the nearest exploration ship and order it to explore...

and the fact it only shows idle ships prevents you from:
1. interrupting other useful operations
2. sending the same ship over and over (aka, if you right click, select a capital ship, order an attack, right click again, select ANOTHER capital ship, order it to attack, right click, select a THIRD capital ship and order it to attack... by showing idle ships only it will each time hide the ship you previously ordered to attack since its no longer idle)

I seems good that I asked [;)]

Is this list described somewhere? I can't remember it from the docs, but then I didn't read them very carefully either ...

If not: are there more hidden features like this?

I have never read it or was it told it anywhere. I had to figure it out for myself.
I think this should be mentioned in the toturial.

One small point though: in my game I cannot find a correlation between position of ship in list and distance to the spot I right-clicked ...
