1938 August.

All the goals set up for this month came through. But as predicted, it was costly to take Marseille. The Italian losses are 29 Rifle IIs and 4 MG IIIs. Easily replaced, but annoying anyway...

Its time to pay the Soviet Union another 100 pp. That being done with, another year is bought. Soon the Axis Minors will be convinced to join in the attack on the Soviet Union, and that will be the end of those payments.

In other news, it seems the french are going to fight for their remaining cities. Either that or they ran out of places to run to. Here is a screenshot of the French front, as it looked when i opened the turn.

The 3rd and 4th Special Forces along with the help of what used to be the 1st Assault Division took Cherbourg this turn. 1st Assault Divisions mortars and light tanks had been shipped home to Berlin, the last turn, and replaced by Infantry Guns and Machine Guns instead, making it to a regular infantry division. The reason for this was progress. Germany had researched Light Tanks III, and those tanks have speed greater than foot speed. So they will be part of a new Panzer Corps/Army to be raised soon.

The 22nd and 24th Rifle Divisions are pushing towards Nantes, though with some casualties, mostly because I am over eager to show results. The 2nd German Army is approaching Nantes from the south now. I wonder if the AI will blow the bridge to Nantes soon. 3rd German Army is pushing southwards, towards Toulouse, a city i had almost forgotten everything about, but nonetheless a production center. Maybe the Italians will take it first, we´ll see.

Here is a screenshot of the frontlines.

1938 September

Not much happening in the Southern France, nor in Tunesia. Though alot of supplies are being drained by aircrews working out of Malta (I´ve got to do something about that sooner or later). In the western desert, things turn nasty. 20th Rifle Division that had advanced beyond Mersa Matruh is almost annihilated by the quick response of a few British Divisions. Only 3 Rifles are left. These are the kind of losses I simply cannot take. The battered 20th Rifle retreat to Mersa Matruh, to tell wild tales of armoured cars armed with heavy weapons. It turns out the British have advanced even more than expected, and are now using Armoured Cars IV. What a nasty surprise.

Italy: Its a quiet month. The Italians move cautiously forwards on all three fronts, and no action of any signifigance is reported. The lone highlight of the month turns out to be a bombing of Malta, by 3rd Bombers, located in Tripoli. 2 enemy bombers where destroyed on the ground. No picture of this was taken.

1938 October

Several smaller air battles take place over Cherbourg. With the Luftwaffe coming out victorious, and the Royal Airforce coming out as the loser. 10 Naval Fighter IIIs are shot down, alas, one German Long Range Fighter V is shot down as well. The frontline is pretty much unchanged, from when i passed the turn on to the Allies. This is how it looks.

What the Royal Airforce, and the French Airforce, could not do, the Submarines of the French Navy in port do. 2 Fighter Vs are shot down by 7 submarine IVs over Nantes. Submarines and Naval AA is very powerful in this game. Maybe too powerful...

The territory owned by France is now shrinking rapidly. Only a few areas in the south of France are still held, and the the ports along the atlantic ocean. In Brest the Atlantic fleet of the French is still docked, its part in this war will be documented as non-existant, i predict.

In France italian forces reach the outskirts of Toulouse, and the advance is going at a steady pace from Tunis towards Algiers. However, there is some bad news. The offensive towards Egypt and the Suez is grinding to a halt. The opposition is simply too strong, and the frontline too concentrated. There is no way to attack without losing alot of troops. Here is what the stagnant frontline looks like.

1938 November

Another Great Airbattle has occured. This time over the city of Cherbourg. The city is as expected flattened, but the Royal Airforce accomplishes little else. 11 Bombers of various types are shot down, and 2 fighter IIIs. No German losses in the air. The Special Forces garrisoning the city are less fortunate though.

France is falling. Brest and Nantes have now been conquored by the 3rd German Army. The 2nd Army is assisting the 1st Army and pushing towards Bordeaux and Toulouse, the remaining mainland french production center. This is a view of southern France. Personally i think Toulouse will fall to the Italians this next turn.

I´m amazed with the numbers of planes. This happens even with the high costs for these toys....

Bad news i´m afraid.

I by accident overwrote the savegame for this game, so everything is lost. No more AAR... [:(]

I did it while playtesting Alpha version 3.03... so at least some progress is being made on this Scenario. I hope that is a small comfort.

No automatic save turned on? I assume you're playing more than the one game.
