Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Chill out everyone.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion provided they treat others with respect. If you can't respect others then this is not the place for you.

I do appreciate everyones feedback including those with concerns over price. I have gone through each and every post made here ( as at 1:30am last night anyway ). Personally it would help if people didn't start up a plethora of threads all discussing the same thing as it gets confusing for me to keep track of the flow. But hey, it's not that big deal that we need to come to blows over it.

You are wrong about one thing. There is a pecking order here. If you havnt discovered it yet you will in time. There are a number of individuals here whom have "special status". And by here I mean in the Matrix forums at large. What would get you or me banned for example they can get away with.

Just a frinedly FYI!

I have to admit I've noticed alot of new members posting comments that may upset older members, they aren't taking into account the fact that many older forum member s have supported Matrix for a long time and may even own the previous Panther games so really do have a right to voice their complaints ...considering it was quite a freindly forum not to long ago I do hope it continues to be so...but some signs look ominous

Eric I can see where he is coming from...he and I aren't the only ones who have noticed it....

I've spent at least $300 in Matrix Games in the past 8 months. Don't think because we are "new" to the forums (as if there is some sort of pecking order....) that we don't support Matrix (or Panther games. I bought HTTR a few months after it came out. Granted I never played it much but I still bought it [:D]. That's why I consider my BftB my first "true" Panther game).

I don't see how your comment adds to the topic and frankly I'm a bit offended by it.

Regardless, I'm leaving this thread as it seems to only cause controversy. I'll try to stay away from debate threads for awhile until this whole price issue gets cooled down.

Hi Sheytan, you know until the release of this game, I've never come across any heated debates at Matrix. Sure there have been some minor flame wars that have seen some people banned but I've always found the Matrix Forums a great place to drop by and - for me of late, mostly chat about general issues and ask advice on everything including iPhones and anti virus suites!

There are some great guys here, one of the best ever threads I recall related to plastic model building! And I love the fact that there are new peole posting here rather than bots!

I reckon the most lively forums must be those for War in the Pacific but I don't get there much at all. So yeah, I hope people can chill a little.

For book recommendations the Matrix forums have been a great resource too. Hat's off to David Heath and his band of merry men/women.

Sheyton...please point out my posts that should have me banned please!

I'm not the only one on this thread who posted the same thing....I think my post was written in a non confrontational way to be honest. Read mine then read a few posts above and tell me who was rude and confrontational. yet I'm the one who has been quoted by you and another member...

I've never considered having a special status on here....

I know I said I'd stop posting on this thread...I will.

But I want to say I apologize for my antagonistic attitude. Wodin and I are on good terms. Let's put this behind us and move on and look forward to making a great community for this game!

What a load of cr*p. In 8 years here I could count the number of regular posters banned on the fingers of one hand, and all of them deserved it. This board is one of the most relaxed going, principally because the vast majority treat it with the respect I would expect from the demographics of its members.

It used to be a very relaxed board. Nothing like what happened to me would have happened in years gone by. But things have sure changed for the worse.

There are three things which shouldn't be talked about, politics, religion.. and price [;)] And the first two are banned anyway.

Actually, on this occasion I think most of the discussion has been pretty reasonable. I got shat on from a great height on suggesting that the discount for existing owners on CoG:Emperors Edition was less than generous, shall we say - and I still consider that pricing an atypical kick in loyal customers' teeth. I never caved in and bought that one. My choice, and the same with this one.

Here at least though, having succumbed and seen it, IMHO BftB is not actually 'overpriced' at least on the basis of what you get for the money. That doesn't mean I don't understand that many won't buy it because of the price, and I still have doubts the current one will generate the largest profit which, I assume, is the idea. Unlike CotA, principally because of the relative lack of appeal of that games theatre of operations to the US market, I think BtfB really did have a chance of bringing a substantial number of new players to the series but the current price will be off-putting to the vast majority (not all) of those potential new players. We will see I suppose. I worry too about the effect on more casual purchases by the 'regulars'. 'Storm over the Pacific' was on my 'probables' list (which means, if I'm honest, I would have bought it), but now I won't; partly because of the hit on BftB and partly in anticipation of the same, if not worse, with WitE.

In passing, I am still completely baffled as to why, in view of Matrix stated policy regarding printing manuals and game 'editions', BftB was 'Digital Express' and not 'Collectors'. If BftB isn't worthy of the last, what will be? It's not even as if (relatively speaking) it's an excessively long manual.

The "price people" just love to keep on and are hoping that someone offers them a discount. pure and simple.

If you cant afford it dont buy it!

But please stop bleating on!

Anyway i have to go now and write to BMW as I cant afford their new 5 series [:D]

People have the right to voice their opinions[:-]...Many wanted to buy this game be couldn't afford it...This means sales could drop and without people saying why they never bought the game the developers wouldn't know. You know exactly how much a BMW 5 series will cost, the price of this game came as a shock to many.

I can easily afford it. What I can't do is justify it.

There's a big difference between not being able to afford it and what I am saying, which is that the game is way overpriced.

I envy the principled abstainer chaps. Not only can they afford it, they've also got such strength of character as to be able to resist buying it. I'm (un)fortunate enough to be in the position that I just can't afford to buy it even though I'd like to and, what's worse, I didn't even get a reply from BMW either. ;) (when it rains etc)

LOL! I bought my first BMW as a E1 stationed in Germany in the 80s. Bought it for 500 bucks in fact from another service member. And yes it was pretty trashed but it ran! Anyway heres a salute to fine German engineering.

Wow..E1's in the '80s must have been makin' big bucks. I was an E4 in Germany in 1972 and all I could afford ($100) was a '60 volkswagen from another E4 leaving country [:D]

Like you I got my first one when I was in Europe.

I don't get the price issue. If a game is enjoyable then you end of playing for so man hours it ends up being very cheap entertainment.
who know what the developed need to go thru economically to get a game out like this.
So a more relevant point this poster could make is whether he enjoys the game or not, and how much he does/does not enjoy it.
