Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

If you think the price threads here are bad, just hop over to subsim.com and look at the anti-DRM threads in the Silent Hunter 5 section. They're like mushrooms in the dank, dark wintry forest. The mods over there are extremely lenient with it, trying to let people get it out of their system. I'm not saying the mods here should do that, but that's what's going on at subsim.com.

Well, I only lurk around here and occasionally post, but I don't have a problem with him posting this opinion in a new thread. The price of this game is a real hot topic, why not post another thread?

Disagreement is always fine, but telling me where to post and where not to post? A question: who died and made you moderators?

Get over yourselves.

You have a right to post like you want, but I don't like to have to scroll over many threads to find the ones of interest to me. You should think of others too. What do you think you have accoplished by publishing in a new thread?

I don't get the price issue. If a game is enjoyable then you end of playing for so man hours it ends up being very cheap entertainment.
who know what the developed need to go thru economically to get a game out like this.
So a more relevant point this poster could make is whether he enjoys the game or not, and how much he does/does not enjoy it.

True. I believe enjoyment is part of the equation in evaluating games, not just price. Expensive but enjoyable is ok with most of us. But a lot does not know how enjoyable a game from Matrix is until they purchased the game. Higher price means bigger risk as compared to a more affordable game (no harm in trying it out). This is where demos come in but so far it is still in development. So a lot of people are in the sidelines.

If I recall correctly I was making 600 and change then. I also had my combat arms bonus in the bank at the time. I actually never really felt I was broke as a troop in Germany, the few hundred typically was more then enough for me to really enjoy the country.

LOL! I bought my first BMW as a E1 stationed in Germany in the 80s. Bought it for 500 bucks in fact from another service member. And yes it was pretty trashed but it ran! Anyway heres a salute to fine German engineering.

I envy the principled abstainer chaps. Not only can they afford it, they've also got such strength of character as to be able to resist buying it. I'm (un)fortunate enough to be in the position that I just can't afford to buy it even though I'd like to and, what's worse, I didn't even get a reply from BMW either. ;) (when it rains etc)

Wow..E1's in the '80s must have been makin' big bucks. I was an E4 in Germany in 1972 and all I could afford ($100) was a '60 volkswagen from another E4 leaving country [:D]

Very nice! My Uncle recently purchased a 5 series and the night vision system on the thing is really a kicker. Pretty amazing what they can put in cars these days.

The "price people" just love to keep on and are hoping that someone offers them a discount. pure and simple.

If you cant afford it dont buy it!

But please stop bleating on!

Anyway i have to go now and write to BMW as I cant afford their new 5 series [:D]

Just FYI, my wife and I both drive BMW's. Let this be a lesson in judging the motives of others.

With that sort ability to be able to buy in that range, two fine motor cars of that calibre, you either demand and get the price for your fine quality product or services you pedal, or with your academic or technical skills and expertise in your field, u can demand a top dollars for your services. Either way you are entitled to do simply that. It's called free enterprise, and that sir is what Dave and Panther Games are doing. If you start discounting your services maybe you won't be so fortunate. Only time will tell for PG whether their pricing is right.

People have the right to voice their opinions[:-]...Many wanted to buy this game be couldn't afford it...This means sales could drop and without people saying why they never bought the game the developers wouldn't know. You know exactly how much a BMW 5 series will cost, the price of this game came as a shock to many.

You just repeat the same message. I have saved for this game for the last 3 years and am in a very similar situation as yourself income wise which you explained in an earlier post, so I pay up or shut up.
It cost me £56 all in and worth every penny.
Its not overpriced its what it costs
The new 5 series went up by £1400 on day of launch according to my sons father-in-law.

I haven't complained about the price since the day of release...so I'm not repeating myself...if new posters come along then they have the right to voice their opinions...just because its been said by others doesn't mean they have to shut up.

I also believe the game is worth the outlay...i've never said different.

Your comment about a discount is uncalled for...I don't believe people are that manipulative...it's quite insulting actually.

oh please!

Example. I wanted Pac War AE big time last year, but I had to let it pass due to financial restraints. I did not go on the thread and complain/pass opinions.

PS stop acting so bloody precious its only a comment on a games forum! [8D] Save up and get the game later! Its very good!

erm...if i replied to you how I felt I'd be warned....stop being so bloody obnoxious...you need to learn how to word your posts so you make friends rather than enemies.

I'm getting the game...I know its good I own the previous three...

Please point out my posts where I bleated on??

Maybe you should stop throwing your weight around and cocentrate on playing the game. Steely had something to say and he said it...not sure why you have a problem over that.

Jesus this forum is going down hill...never had so much grief off other members....damn shame...if it wasn't for the core good few with games I really enjoy and a place I've felt at home for for so long I'd clear off

I hope he comes back too Wodin. I can't work out exactly what made him go but I've also never seen such heated posts here in general either (ie: not by one person or at one person or relating to this person - just in general), all caused by the price of a game.

Its a shame price can kick off such a storm of ill feelings. But this is not the first time in recent history. Check out the comments in the Across the Dnepr II forum. I guess the pricing increase is a wave of the times.

I'll be buying BftB just like I bought AtD.
I had to take the stepdaughter, son-in-law, grandkids and wife out to eat the other night. ... just under $100. (key word there was "had") That money is in some waste water treatment plant right now ... BtfB will be with me for years like HttR has been. I guess that's the way I look at gaming expenditures. (I only buy a ~couple games a year anyway)

Another observation that's got me concerned; those in the WitE forum are saying they will give the heaven and earth for that game when it comes out (contrary to this thread). I sure hope Matrix and GG don't take this price escallation thing to another level any time soon. That would not be good. ... and this is all you'll hear from me on price

have a nice day

I think with WitE many had the feeling it is going to be priced at the same level as WitP AE. Forewarned is forearmed.

The price here came out the blue...I think if it had been mentioned awhile ago you wouldn't have got as many disapointed people on the day of release...alot of people where really looking forward to the game and probably getting excited the night before...only for it to fall flat on its face on the day...that I think was why there was an initial outcry and shock. A kneejerk reaction took place that has caused alot of bad words and ill feeling.

I expect some who had a shock and said they wouldn't buy will calm down and come around. Others will wait for that elusive sale, others unfortunately will stay away.

I've weighed up the situation and know the game is well worth saving for (I never doubted it wasn't worth the asking price). So Im here to stay and I hope I will be able to have an input in moving the series on. Its going to be alot harder sell from now on to try and get people into the series (it was hard enough before because many just didn't get the game or where scared off by that dreaded acronym "RTS"), but I hope with time many buy the game, see its joys and how groundbreaking it is and then we can see more from the series.

Well a few times I've come in for some stick on here over the last few days. I've stepped up when I think people are being alittle rude or trying to dismiss others for no reason. I've made up with some but others aren't worth it. Funny thing is I wanted alot of new blood here, but I never expected some of this.

Hi Wodin
Hope you do not give up on some quality new blood around here. I dare say these many posts might not portray "the best". [:)] These kinds of issues tend to bring out the worst in some of us.
I am another professional lurker on this site and have many Matrix games. I have noticed, as you have pointed out, that it is rare that anyone insults/attacks anyone else for simply having an opinion.
So I would like to take this whole mess as people having an opinion and wishing to have someone "hear" them. With people being people we invariably express ourselves in ways that do not represent our real nature sometimes.
I have always enjoyed the things you have said over the years and can only hope that this is not the line in the sand that provokes you into leaving the board also.
There are many of us still worth hanging in there for...... I hope.

Who left? We don't have to worry about attorney-client privilege. We're not in a lawyer's office.

Personally, this forum could get a lot worse and still be light years ahead of most of the forums with regards to respect for others. It may have gone down hill temporarily, but it's still pretty good. Many of you are just spoiled and wouldn't know good if it slapped you in the face. Ever hung out in the WoW forums? How about any FPS forum? Really... We got it good.

I have to say that I'm also amused that people think things are getting heated. Even on a private forum I'm part of, where you have to prove real-life credentials to be allowed in, the tone can get far harsher than on here. This forum stays polite even when it gets angry, which is to everyone's credit.
