When I start the game, I get always "could not initiate font" error - and the game quit !

I see this occasionally when I am doing some heavy multi-tasking.  Norton running checks in the background is often the culprit, but I have also seen it when running other programs like Photoshop.

Oliver, I have this problem when I have running WinAmp during EDBtR starting

As both Mikkey and Nick have mentioned, other programs running will affect the startup process of EDBTR.

Basically, in Windowed mode EDBTR must maintain the screen focus whilst starting. If the focus is lost, the fon't can't build, it's a directx thing. Once the green buttons start showing, you can take the screen focus elsewhere.
