Two Suggestions

1. Post the modified versions of the campaign scenarios where the KB doesn't go to Hawaii.
2. Post standard starting positions with specific industry setups and plans for Japan. Perhaps the same for both sides.

Herwin,

reagrding #2, do you mean suggested first turn orders...if so that's a whole lotta beta help. Isnt the fun in figuring it out for yourself? Besides no one set of orders will suffice in all strategies. Regarding knowing the setup of the other player on T1 prior to orders, that is already available to anyone who loads the other side.

Which did you mean?

Getting a campaign game underway is an utter pain--taking days or weeks.

Ah I think what Herwin is saying is that he wants a "Save 199" like we had for Vanilla WiTP. That was a saved game with all the first turn moves done so that a player could save hours of setup time.

I'd like two versions, one with the KB attacking Pearl and the other with the KB hitting Manila. (Unfortunately, that requires an edit.)

It's a good idea harry. We have done several different opening day scenarios, including a Manila strike. Unfortunately, our scenarios are CPX types with a six month cut-off and their own specific victory conditions.

We have done quite a few Malaya hits (same conditions) at different places just to see wha-hoppen. Problem is that all these scens are hypothetical, and involve tweaking ship and air and land files, and just who is to say which of our 113 file tweaks is right or wrong? That’s the problem with an a-historical campaign start; there will always be a howling mob of idiots that think it should be this way, or that way.

It takes a lot of work to get a game underway. It would be nice to have some scenario start files where some of the work is already done.

And it would also be nice if somebody wasn't too lazy to do his own work.

That's a little harsh T. I'm sure we could have another "Save 199" type file where most of the moves are complete for turn 1.

I really don't see the difference between this suggestion and the "Historical Start"...

Even with this suggestion I'm still likely going to spend hours tweaking what someone else ordered...

In many games my forces do not get into full swing until 2,3,4 or more turns in...

But to each their own.

I agree with your comment about tweaking, but I'd like to have a couple of move files with most of the standard orders already set up (and documented). A couple of files, so the Japanese player could choose a western or eastern strategy for the KB without telegraphing his choice--currently you have to edit the scenario for that.
