Am I taking casualities?

Command Ops: Battles From The Bulge takes the highly acclaimed Airborne Assault engine back to the West Front for the crucial engagements during the Ardennes Offensive. Test your command skills in the fiery crucible of Airborne Assault’s “pausable continuous time” uber-realistic game engine. It's up to you to develop the strategy, issue the orders, set the pace, and try to win the laurels of victory in the cold, shadowy Ardennes.
Command Ops: Highway to the Reich brings us to the setting of one of the most epic and controversial battles of World War II: Operation Market-Garden, covering every major engagement along Hell’s Highway, from the surprise capture of Joe’s Bridge by the Irish Guards a week before the offensive to the final battles on “The Island” south of Arnhem.

Am I taking casualities?

Post by Fred98 »

From another thread:

ORIGINAL: CptWasp
.........passing through a full German battalion in Monshau WITHOUT ANY infantry support: 0 losses!!!

In this game series, I have never been able to work out whether I am taking any losses.

How do I determine whether a unit is taking losses?

How can I compare the current strength of any unit with its strength at the start of a scenario?

Hi,

On the bottom right of each unit icon a little light lights up:
  • Blue - Your unit is firing
  • Orange(ish) - You are being fired at
  • Red - You are tacking casualties
  • White - The cowards are surrendering!

You can also look at a units log and see it history which will tell you when they took casualties (not how many unfortunately).

Moreover if you look at the General tab for th eunit and look at its Pers Qty bar you will see a light blue bar that represents current strength and a darker blue bar underneath, which represents scenario start strength. Does that help?

Also, in the unit's log, you will see the sad demise of your men being reported.

If there were just one unit yes it would.

But there are 40 units on the map.

I need a short cut way to see those blue lines for a specific battlegroup as well as for my force as a whole.

And I don't want to micro manage.

In HTTR I sometimes make a quick glance at HQ's
HQ's also provide the total equipment of the whole formation.
Just track the changes once in a while.

That's a good suggestion for the task tracker Dave - a popup box (moveable) showing a list of forces and being able to view Organisation, Personel etc...all the blue bars you can see when you select a unit...with the added functionality of clicking on the unit to go to it on map...shows you where it is, why it's personell/org (whatever) is affected...

Of course all good Task Tracker items should come after a campaign [;)]

Nice one JD! [;)]

Why not instead add another function to the UnitInfoBox so that it showed losses realtive to start strength. We already have the F3 Strength function. So why not overload this to have a strength since start display.

Being as that functionality is already there, makes sense to reuse it.
