Help: supply & production

Gary Grigsby’s World at War is back with a whole new set of features. World at War: A World Divided still gives complete control over the production, research and military strategy for your side, but in this new updated version you’ll also be able to bring spies into the mix as well as neutral country diplomacy, variable political events and much more. Perhaps the largest item is the ability to play a special Soviet vs. Allies scenario that occurs after the end of World War II.

Help: supply & production

Post by philo swill »

All,
I can not grasp the "how to's" of supply and production.
Can anyone show me how to master this game aspect?
How about a sample game turn or three.
Thanks,
Philo

As for supply land units use 1 supply, except tanks when they mve two areas in which case they will use two supplies.
There are some areas with a double border and tanks will use two supplies, iirc infantry and other units only need one in these cases.
Air Units use one supply no matter how many areas they move.
Subs need one supply to reload torpedoes, no supply used for moving.
LF, HF and CV need for supplies depends on how many areas they move, they can consume from one to eight, iirc again. CAGs in CV will need another supply to be able to move and attack.

As for production the production screen is divided in boxes, depending on what you want to produce it will take a certain amount of time. Say you want to produce an infantry unit it will take two turns (quarters) so if you're in spring it will come in summer and will be placed in the second box, when you start the next turn you will see that it has moved to the first box and at the end of the turn it will be placed on the map.

To be able to produce you need to link the resources to the production areas, this is very important when playing the allied side. You may have lots of industries but withour raw materials they're worthless or viceversa (think of Japan).

Hope this helps somewhat.
