I minor thing I noticed on the alert tab was that in my game as Allies vs AI IJ that on the new month I get the msgs about a/c research being moved forward to x month. As an Allied player, yep I'd love to know when I'm going to start to see a new IJ a/c but I shouldn't [:'(] This only happens on the first of a new month when such events occur.
Also on the minefields tab, any minefields I lay at an AI port show size as being -1 controlled by the AI. I've been laying mines by air from the northern OZ bases at the Timor bases & they show as IJ controlled but size is -1. The graphic on the map in the game shows a green Allied dot as it should but shouldn't Tracker show the minefield as being an Allied controlled at an IJ base as well as how many mines there are? I think they are working in game right as in Tracker I'm seeing reports of ships sunk by mines whereas I don't really see those kinds of reports from the in game ones so had to wonder if my mining was really working or not.

Let me get this right ... you're seeing your opponents R&D on the first of the month ?

As you never get the size of the minefield in game(your own at enemy bases), we'll not show that. IIRC The -1 just means that there are mines there...

Yes I'm seeing the opponents r&d which is the AI in this case but no other stuff at the moment.

As to the minefields - no biggie, it'd be nice if I could know how much of one I laid was left so as to lay another or not.

Since the game doesn't show this information, we won't show it in WitPTracker.
Delete the trackerdb.* files.
Copy the pwsdll.dll file from the game folder to the WitPTracker folder.
Try running the WitPTracker.bat again.

Hmmm... I suppose you had just loaded a new turn, right? Can you send me the "old" turn and the "new" turn so I can see what's going on?

Thanks!

I often advise players on the ins and outs of the Japanese economy ... you could send me a savefile, but a screenshot of the ShipYard screen will probably suffice ... maybe also a screenie of the res history of japan might answer the other Q ...

need to shrink DB

Post by StoneAge »

Guy love your work

I have a problem though

I am 600+ turns into the game and you guessed it. It now takes between 15 to 30 mins to start up the tracker and I can't live without it.

I have already set java's memory in the bat file as high as I think I can go 640 and 768 (how high do you think I can go. I am running 2 gig of ram on an xp box)

What I need to know is do we have a time frame for the update where you can turn off the map and remove some of the data from the DB (trackerdb.data currently 274.602KB)

or should I dump the DB and start it fresh as I really only need the last few months information.

I would like to keep

All the information under victory points all the way back to the start. I like the graphs shows me just how bad I am doing.

as I said before great work.

Wow, that's a lot of turns. I think you can keep bumping up the Java memory, but I don't think it will do much, since the time-killer is actually reading the database and throwing out what isn't needed. I plan to do something to speed this up (first attempt actually made startup take longer [X(]).

The next release will have the option to disable the map, which will drastically reduce the startup times, as tested by CaptDave.

Good news for all is that I start holidays in 3 hours[;)]
3 months off [8D]
World Cup about to start ...
Just wanted to gloat a bit ...

Anyway beside having to write 2 articles for some academic journals I intend on diving back into some Java programming so we can get a 1.6 to you guys at some point. Probably another few weeks at least [;)] (depends on my late night football watching)

Have a good one

Come on England ... err and Australia ...err.. and Sth Korea (cause I live here)

PS. I've also worked on speeding up some things and it seems to be better regarding production

Yeah, this one may be tough to duplicate. You need to get a turn where the SS Nautilus is supposedly sunk and then a subsequent turn where it's discovered to be falsely reported as sunk. But I think this had to have happened twice -- because it should fail on the second time. I'll protect against it, but it's a harmless error; just indicating something is there already.
