Well, I just got reinforced in my conviction to watch no other World Cup matches. Those horns are just too damn annoying.[:@]

Well, turn the sound off. The problem with using another source for the audio (radio for example) is that there is always some desynchronisation. So a team is attacking and seconds before they score you hear: GOAAAAAL! [:D]

If you love footie as I do think about this: a World Cup every 4 years [8|]

topeverest, don't be so humble [:)] What I have seen this evening confirms what I saw in Christmas. You can be very proud of this team. They may not win this World Cup but they are a very good team. Just think how bad they were a mere few years ago. There has been a massive improvement. And your main attacker is missing (a car accident: Davis is his name?) [8D]

I saw some good things. Most worrisome pre-match was whether the defense could organize and sure enough, there was a breakdown early leading to England's goal. But they solidified and played pretty good the rest of the match. England is a strong side and they are going to get their shots, so I don't fault the D on that so much.

Well done the US, well worth a point despite the horrible keeper error for their goal. As usual the English media build the team up as world beaters when we clearly are not. Lets hope we both get through to the next round.

Maradona is an ass. However, his beard looked great. Best facial hair in the tournament, must have taken hours.
Don't get much quality analysis on my side of the pond but for keeper I am quite comfortable with Manchester City's Joe Hart. Guess I need to calm down first and not let the beer speak.

The ROK looked good, the Greeks like they were being paid in Drahma.

The Argies did well, if not for the Nigerian goalie would have won by a lot more.

England played like England, best league in the world unable to produce a team of world beaters.
They have to limit the number of foreigners playing in the EPL so that their own players get a chance to develop.
The USA played well, took their chance an were lucky it slipped through, under, was completely missed the Goalie. Their Goalie also mad a number of great saves, a problem in that the defence allowed the shots on goal.

A problem for some teams, like the USA & Aus, is that we dont get a lot of chance to play as a team and it takes a few games to get into gear, if you last that long.

heh, I am from Munich and we call Spatenbräu ("Spade brewery") derogatory Schaufelbier ("shovel beer") and it´s generally considered as the worst beer of Munich´s brands.
Most liked beer is "Augustiner" (at least in my circle of friends). [:)]

Okay he made a very elementary error - and because he is a goalkeeper and their gaffes are normally more high profile -his mistake and his mistake alone apparently, cost us the win. BUT you may want to ask what the hell Heskey was doing shooting straight at Howard when clean through, or the Wright-Phillips "effort" - albeit from a more difficult angle.

Personally I would have liked to see Hart play because for a youngster he seems to have great confidence, has had a great season with Birmingham - and he looks the part. But bringing a relatively inexperienced player into such a big game would have been a massive risk - remember Scott Carson and Croatia anyone? remember Peter Shilton vs Poland in 1973 and dare I mention Peter Bonetti......

Oh and I forgot - well done USA - hope we both progress to the last 16.

I don't particularly blame Rob Green for the mistake, as you say they happen and 'keepers don't have anyone to cover their mistakes. He shouldn't have cocked up like he did, but it's not the end of the world. The team is 11 players, maybe the defence should have been closing Dempsey down...

As for Joe Hart, I've felt he's the best choice for a while now. If you're good enough then you're old enough and there's only one way to gain experience of playing in the World Cup. We're hardly blessed with an excess of good English goalkeepers (or defenders) right now.

I'd be happy to see the US in the last 16 as well.

Choices are limited in the states. I am sure you are correct. Please send over a case and I will do the comparison[:D] I like Pilsner's is this the label I should be looking for?
